Is there anything around scottsdale, such as a dragstrip or anything to do with cars that would be interesting to see? My husband and I are here on vacation this week. I'm not familiar with this area at all, and thought that if there were anything around here like that, it would be interesting to see while we were here. So far we've been everywhere but here and have put 700 miles on the rental car in one day...mainly getting lost. Any assistance would be appreciated! thanks in advance!

Kasey,

There is always the Car Show at the Pavilions. The cross streets are Indian Bend and Pima. There is a big shopping center there and the McDonalds hosts a car show every Saturday night. Some really neat car are always there. We even have AZ SHO Club get togethers there every once and a while.

Well, in the summertime we usually don't congregate there until 6 or 7. What say everybody? Meeting of the AZ SHO Club at the Pavillions at 6 to meet some out of towners?

I was at that show back in '01 when I was visiting family in Scottsdale, it was one of the best weekly shows I've been too. Mainly becuase around here 99% of shows only allow cars that are 20 years and older, which gets 'old' after while.....:laugh_ti:

Funny thing too is we were supposed to be down there this week to see how 'bad' the heat is in the summertime. I've experienced it before but my fiancee' has not and we're thinking of moving so I wanted to see if she'd survive it or not.....

Kasey, take the 101 (on the east side of town) to Indian Bend. Head west and you'll see a McDonald's on your right hand side in very short order. Work your way to that and you can't miss the car show. Generally, IIRC, Tom and the gang normally take spots on the NW section of the parking lot (closer to the Home Depot), unless the spots are taken.

I don't think you'll be disappointed in the turn out. You'll see LOTS of differen cars of different caliber. I haven't been in some time, however, if you've seen some of my car show pictures, the area may look familiar to you when you get there.

We're planning on doing dinner first, probably at the 5 & Diner across the street, at about 7 PM. We'll then drive over and walk the SHOw. We'll be in the Roush F-150, white with blue stripes if anybody else shows up. See ya.
