I assume it’s the same for everyone you get the strategy code for your ecu and your tuner of choice makes your map and sends it

Do yourself a favor and buy directly from Matt (Gearhead) or Brad (AJPTurbo). They specialize in our platforms(both have had SHO's) and they both are great.
If you are chasing a deal or trying to save come coin, you are on the wrong platform.

It's always unfortunate to make that choice and then be stuck when you aren't happy or find yourself wanting more. That's the main drawback (besides some of the issues that we've seen as of late) with Vendor L.

5 Star is a decent tuner but they specialize in trucks. Personally I would stick to tuners with real experience on this platform.
5-S will blow your Ride up..
I had several tunes from them .
First 93 tune had less gains than stock.
The SCT X4 canned tunes had better all around gains over 5-S.
All I can give props for is that 5-S customer service was top notch at the very beginning.
In the end it was very bad and never really gained any power or better shifts over canned tunes or stock..
The last tune file they sent me was used on my car for all of about 15 minutes before my car detonated it's self ..
I was data logging at that time and found out with the help of another tuner that my knock sensors were turned off..
This is a fact and believe me when I say stay clear of 5-S ..
Never ever got my money worth out of them.

I had a problem with every single tune file they sent me.
Either I had no difference in any way or it made my car feel like it had a 4 banger from a Ford ****** and not the ****** GT..
According to the logs I would drop boost across the board with all of the tunes from them.
If I returned back to stock my numbers would go back to normal.
I was also able to gain more boost when using the SCT canned tunes and noticed a significant and better difference in the way the car ran and shifted when using the SCT canned tunes compared to the 5* tunes..
They did several revisions with the tunes they sent with no difference in any way whatsoever..
I was very disappointed with my experience because all of the very good reviews people were giving them and not just for the F150's but they had great reviews for every vehicle that they have worked with.
When I was trying to decide what company I was gonna use for my tuning I could only find 1 person out of hundreds & maybe thousands that had something negative to say about 5* tunes..
I was pretty confident that they were going to get me a good tune eventually..
They have excellent customer service until about the 4th tune file they sent me didn't even load on my car.
After that I requested to speak with someone who was in charge or who could either get me what I was paying for or give me a refund or something like a discount on some spark plugs or some other part or something..
After they talked me into giving them another shot on fixing the tunes everything went sideways for me.
I RECIEVED a new and supposed fixed tune not to long after the above mentioned conversation so I decided to load it up on my X4 and install it in my car right away..
I loaded the file in my car successfully with no problems .
I then proceeded to hook up my computer so I could start a data log immediately..
I then started the car and to test out the new tune and after a very short period it died.
I was not running it hard or crazy at all when it happened.
I shut it down and looked for anything suspicious that might have happened besides the tune but didn't see anything obvious.
I started it again and noticed it sounded different than it usually does and when in park it sounded like it had a problem when giving it very little gas..
After all this I decided to return my car back to stock and it made very little difference in the way it was running and sounded so I parked it.
A few days later I decided to talk to a different tuner and after a very short conversation he wanted me to send him my logs.
It only took about 5 minutes for him to call me back with the very bad news about my knock sensors being disabled.
I'm not a mechanic or expert but I knew that was a bad thing from reading about tuning on all the different the forums.
I read about other people who actually had their knock sensors disabled by other tuners but 5* wasn't mentioned by anyone..
I know for a 100% fact that the sensors were definitely shut down..
I believe that the people at 5* got upset or ****** off about me not being satisfied with my tunes and decided to basically sabotage my ride or something..
That could be purely my opinion but it is such a coincidence that the car had a major malfunction only 15 short minutes after installing the last and final tune file they sent me..
Either way I warn anyone who will listen to me to stay clear of 5-S or you might regret it sooner than later.
Even if your vehicle doesn't break down or blow the engine you probably won't gain any benefits from their tunes at all ..
Save your money and get your tunes from someone else..
I am in the process of installing a new motor as we speak and after I get it back together again I will definitely get my new tunes from either AJPturbo or gearhead..
LMS and SSI are not even a consideration at this point because of all the horrible reviews I have been seeing lately..
I wish I would have read or heard something about about 5* tunes before it became to late..
I suppose it was possible that I am the only person who has experienced a problem with 5* but I highly doubt that..

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. Let this be a lesson to all. When looking into a tuner always search for the best one for the plaform you own. Regardless if your platform shares it's engine with other platforms, there are differences and those differences are important.

It was nice of you take the time that you did, to post your experiences with said vendor.
Truly unfortunate, but sure does seem to be becoming the norm where vendors can't seem to stomach criticism and do all that they can to undermine the individual by either berating them, blaming them, along with demanding the removal of any/all negative ratings and/or feedback that may have transpired.
Makes it great for them though, as these companies (& not just the one you've posted about) raves and raves and raves about their stellar reviews and unblemished record, only to have some be allowed to post openly about what happened.
Thus why the forum communities are still so sorely needed. It allows an unfiltered, unbiased, unfettered platform to allow for such information to be shared.
Thus why I in my own experience, took the critical time (almost 3mo.'s) of gathering facts, photos, details, etc. before posting what I had.
Like you, I can only hope that it is read by the masses, and hopefully saves at least a few owners from spending their hard earned money on what turns out all to often to be overpriced hype and hyperbole.
Again, good luck on the build, and keep your head high for future goals.

Is there a personal email for Matt you use or something? It's usually very hard for me to use the phone during business hours, so I used the email via the contact form on their website, stating I am ready to purchase a tune package and asked for PCV setup and/or any supporting modification recommendations with his tune.
A week later I get a basic response of you live in CA so go to our website and find a vendor to purchase from.
I respond and say ok I'll purchase through a vendor, but could I still get an answer on what he recommends for me to run his tune. That was 7 days ago and still no answer.
I would really like to try out GH and I understand a good business is busy, but I'm ready/trying to spend money lol.
[email protected] is their regular email. They are going to SEMA so that may be part of the delay although I haven't had an email go more than 48hrs without a response.
