Annual bonus came in, time to fix stuff, looking like the only real functionality issue left is the rear camera, it works intermittently, from what I've read its the camera itself and needs to be replaced, Dorman says it retains all functionality with the lines moving and the zoom feature but for $160 i thought id check here first, is Dorman the way to go? OEM? open to suggestions

You can go Ford part from a junker for the price. No experience with Dorman and that part.

Don't get the Dorman one, their electrical parts are extremely hit or miss. My suggestion would be either get a used OEM one from a lower mileage wrecked vehicle, or bite the bullet and get a new OEM one. Mine on my 13 Flex died a couple years ago, and I picked up a used OEM one from another Flex member for very cheap.

$60 amazon Dngbymx camera has okay reviews, a 12mo warranty, and $100 less than Dorman, has anyone actually installed one of these or was this what you guys found looking for me? Found an OEM NOS for $380 and my u pull it wants $50 for a used one, so for $10 more I can chance a new one with a warranty.

That (the Amazon one I linked) is the one I installed a few years ago. It's been working fine ever since. I think I had to turn off the parking assist and then turn it back on to get the lines back.

If you feel like you can justify your time to take it back apart and replace it if it fails then by all means, go for it. I 100% would not purchase the Dorman one. If I was going with an aftermarket camera I would get the Amazon one. The issue I've found with the cheaper aftermarket cameras is the resolution usually is kind of poor when compared to the OEM one. When I was looking for one for my Flex a new was about 220, but I got the used low mileage OEM one for 20 bucks, so it was kind of a no-brainer.

I can justify my time no problem (not that i enjoy doing the same job twice), im more worried about the constant disassembly and reassembly potentially breaking something else, while I was tinkering with it everything on that trunk lid seems flimsy. ill take the lower resolution of the cheaper aftermarket one (not dorman) if it means it will work. I feel like a used one is just as much a gamble as the dorman one, and a used one cost almost the same as the off brand amazon one. I agree with you on Dormans quality not being what it used to be, I used to be a Dorman dealer and even though everything was on Dorman to warranty the 50/50 rate of returns for warranty was terrible. I see my options as

$50 for used
$60 for new off brand
$160 for new name brand
$380 for new OEM

I guess as long as the resolution is the only potential issue ill give the wudangxts amazon brand a try.

Give the Amazon one a try then if you don't care about taking it back apart if it doesn't work or craps out then. Haha

It's about a 5 minute job to change out. I posted a brief how to when I did mine.

Amazon and type in the make and model backup camera and it will give you plenty of examples to choose from. here's the link. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C1FMFJT8?ref=ppx_pop_dt_b_product_details&th=1 Its a plug and play setup;
So did some digging through comments, etc - personally I would go with this one: yes $100 more however many complaints about lines not matching - no working audible sounds. Just my thoughts, US based support, and business.
