Hi, guys, has anyone done anything with door covers and other plastic parts inside the car? It is crazy, how noisy it is. I Used some epoxy on cracks, constructin foam for insulation and tape on some parts , but still door covers make noise sometimes.

Usually around here people just add Alum SFB's & welded motor mounts so all that NVH covers up any interrior noises! LOL

I wouldn't mind if I only had to race this car, but I like to drive it around sometimes and little skweeking and constantly rattling noises give me headaches. So much work in this car and the only thing that turns me off from driving it is interior noise.

Get new door clips. Once you remove the door panel, they will never hold as tight as new again and that's where the majority of your squeaks and rattles will come from. Personally I went here for door clips. 100 of them will do all four doors, your front fascia, your b-pillars, and anything else you can find with plenty of spares left over.

Two options:
1. New clips and turn the radio up
2. Gut it... completely

here is the thing, i did change them, but still not that good. 3 weeks after I did all that and put cover back on, drivers cover start making a little noise again, but right below my ear. I pushed hard slightly above door handle and it stopped as long as I held it.
I mean, I had another idea of just taking them off and totally separate covers piece by piece and build them back up. This is done so bad, I wish someone shared their experience if they had one.

I'm using that option right now, but can't turn the radio too loud, because factory wiring for speakers is in the way and difficult to put another amp for speakers. And how can i talk on the phone when music is very loud?:nut:

Right above the door handle? Make sure the self tapping sheet metal screws are in tight. There are two in the handle and two below the arm rest. Sometimes they don't like to tighten.

I had the same issue with my previous 93. Even after installing new clips, and trying the silicone trick they still made noise. Apparently they had been off so much, the panels themselves were not very structurally sound. I swapped to a different set of front door panels, and my problems were solved.

thanks, guys, I noticed that one screw is missing and I will try silicon, but what other door panels can I use? Just from other SHO, or different car?

Sable and regular Taurus panels will technically fit, but they will look different. Actually, I think sable panels are identical... just different colors.

are they better made though?
If they are better made, then I would just paint them. You know , in ford i noticed the first time, that in door panels they used more than one piece and these pieces are all main, meaning they take part in holding to the actual door, where as in german and japaneese cars, added pieces seem to added on top of the main panel.

I'm not really understanding anything you said there except that I doubt they're made better - pretty much the same parts between the Sables and SHOs.

it's ok if you don't understand, because the other day I was trying to explain my friend the same and I had to show him so that he would get it. In other words, if all these things that, you guys, recommended, will not work, I would have to do each cover from beginnig to the end, I guess. I think speaker bracket on passenger side door is rattling as well. It had all the factory insulation and screws there exept speaker from the factory. I even put big chunk of dry foam there and still not that much help. I don't know, but it seems that if you redesign every part of interior or make it from a different material, it will work right comparing to stock.

I just can't understand the post because of how it's written, it's garbled to me, sorry. Though I think I see the point you're trying to make after rereading it again. I've seen some crappy (and worse) euro interiors too. I'm curious to see what you come up with :thumb:

You should capture some video or audio of all the interior noise. I'd be curious to hear it if it's this damn bad.

yeah, seriously... it's a 15 year old taurus. It's not going to sound like a new car, ever.

It is a little difficult to explain for me. I think the best made interiors I've seen was in Japaneese cars.
