Doing my welds finally!

I had never concidered welding them in the car...I am picking up a 96 SHO and as of now i dont know if its been welded...when you have it done that way how do you cover the cam lobes ? do you use the anti splatter cream? or just drop them off and com get them later??..lol....and i guess there is no warpage in the camshaft due to the heat?..(im sure this was all thopught of and thrown out teh window the first time it worked i just have t ask since im a welder lol).......Thankyou for your time.........Hal

If you go to V8sho.com, there is a big section on welding the cams. It will answer all of your questions and probably some you didn't have. There is discussion on the best technique, and even a breakdown of the metal parts of the cam. One theory is that doing them while on the engine actually helps dissipate heat from the welding faster.

My plans are to fix the IMRC, change my struts, and weld er' up!
