the last 2 days I got the dreaded cel. I haven't had enough daylight to do anything to check it I have been working from 4am to 7pm for the last couple days and by then it is black out here in maine. Anyway the light only pops on if the engine is pushed to 5grand or more hard. and then if I drive easy for 5 or 10 minutes it goes away. Any ideas folks so I have some idea what it is. I will check codes tomorrow so don't harp on me there I am just curious if you guys have any ideas.

What year? Trans? Miles? Not much to go on. If I had to guess and the car was an ATX I would say the EGR holes behind the throttle body are clogged. Other than that we need codes like you said.
