Does it need a new TPS?

I am going to look at an 89 sho. The owner said it needs a new TPS. I asked why. They said that after driving it a bit, it will start revving, and then die. Then it has to cool off completely before it will restart?
Does this sound like a bad TPS...
or CPS?

Just a suggestion, but a dirty MAF could partially be at fault if it always idles a bit rough. However, I would think that just like a TPS, that it would generally be a continuous problem and not only when hot. The when hot makes me strongly suspect the CPS. They usually have these symptoms.

yeah, I don't think I have heard anyone post about a failing TPS.
But I always thought a failing CPS would have a NO start symptom... shrug
I have a used TPS from my old 90... will it intercahange with the 89?

Try disconnecting you TPS as an experiment.

It will start, but will not idle.

That sounds more like a combo of dirty MAF and bad/sticking IAB. It could very well be something as simple as a vacuum leak.
