I am about ready to have the 60K done on my 93 ATX and wanted to know if anyone in the area has done one recently or would be willing to do one. I am willing to pay for the service and help if wanted, but I am not willing to do it on my own. If anyone is interested let me know, and an approx cost for the job (parts and labor).

Thanks all,

Jason

I would be willing to lend a hand to help, but I have never done one myself, so I wouldnt want to do it for the first time on another's SHO.

If you are coming to Ohio around x-mas time yamahaSHO...let ppl know...especially if your bringing the red beauty. :thumb:

That drive is too long for me..... Especially subjecting my car to salt and such. I kind of like the no rust thing it's got going on. It is in the garage for the winter. When it comes out in the spring, it'll be twice as powerful :D

I'd be flying. I will most likely be out there for a week or so near Christmas time. I'll make a post to let you guys know. I'd like to meet some more SHO people. As far as the 60k, that shouldn't be a problem. I would need to know exactly what you want done. I'd hate to be in the middle of work and not have a part. Good luck trying to get it during Christmas.

What do you guys recomend be done? The 93 has 155K and runs very good. No leaks I can see or smell, fresh coolant and the previous owner took very good care of the car. No mods to speak of. I will get the list of repaired/replaced parts when I get home. I assume (***-u-me) that no parts have been replaced unless they were broken/defective. I.E. no valve adjustment, CPS ect... but I will check the maint records he kept as they are very good.

I want the car to last at least another 100K and I am not afraid to put some work into it. Many of you are "experts" on the 3.2 ATX (lol) and I am calling you out for your opinion as to the important 60-100K items to repair/replace.

Thanks,

Jason

Without a proper 60/100k every being done, I'd suggest to replace everything on the 60/100k list. Another thing, I wouldn't be bringing any tools and I don't know what my family has up there, so you'd have to have pretty much everything for me to do the job.

The only major difference in the 60/100k for the ATX versus the MTX is the timing belt tensioner is different. You also utilize one drive belt for all accessories. Once you tell me what you need, I can tell you where to get it.

It is not garunteed, at this point anyway, that I'll be in Ohio this Christmas. It is looking really good though. Just need more motivation....

Thanks for the offer, but I will hold out for someone closer. Any idea from you guys how long it might take to do a 60-100K? Can it be done in a weekend? Or am I an idiot for even thinking it?

I want to do the "normal" maint for the ATX if there is such a thing. I looked at the shotimes site and really didn't narrow it down any. Thus, I will be looking for suggestions. Thanks

I can do it in a day if need be...

I'm not saying I'm going to come out just to do that, but there is a strong likleyhood that I will be there. Since I would already be there, I would have no problem doing it.

Doesn't realy matter to me.....

Here are the things that have been repaired/replaced.
Serp belt 155K (but still needs aligned, it keeps shredding)
Heater Core 155K
Fuel Pump 97K
Timing Belt and tentioners 106K
Sway bar pins and bushings 120K
Starter 124K
Rear rotors 127K
Front rotors 138K
Major front suspension 141K (struts, tierods, bushings)
water pump 140K
starter (again) 148K

This is what the prev owner had listed as done. I welcome suggestions.

Thanks, Jason

If you follow the 100k rule of the ATX, your timing belt is good for a while. What sway bar "pins" are you refering to? Do you mean the links? Any oil leaks from the front of the motor? I would not hesitate to replace the ECT.

Sounds like you just need a valve lash... And possibly the rod bearings done.

If I Were You I Would Get A Complete 60k Kit. I Got Mine From The Sho Shop, get The Gold Kit ,it Is For 150k Or More. Also I Would Get The Throttle , Crank And Cam Sensors. All Of The Above Need To Be Replaced If They Havent.also I Would Replace All The Valve Cover Bolts, Just To Make It Look Nice. Do You Have A Heated Work Area To Do All The Work?? I Might Have Some Time To Help.

shofun, get in touch with Justin (Foxwulfe). He could probably help you out and he lives over in that general area. I know he's done a good number of 60k's both front and top.

Jason, do let us know when you'll be in town. We're having a meet in mid December in Ohio which should have a decent turnout.

Okay, I'll let you guys know. I can't say for sure yet. I have to see what is going with my family(when they want me out) and most of it rests on the military. If you guys can give me a date and location of the meet, I'll try and work around that as well.

I am willing to work on it with you at my shop in Norwalk in the next coming weeks (not this saturday as i have an egg hunt planned :). do you need tools? I also have a great place to buy shims locally, but for a one day operation it's best to rent a shim kit and have all your gaskets in order (as in purchased already). email me at [email protected]. i'm free most saturdays.
