Got to looking at pics and got to wondering what a full roll cage would look like in a SHO gen1, gen2, gen3, maybe with all the interior still in it. if i still have the pipe bender would make one up in my white 93. well if you have any pics let me see. thanks!! :munch:

Not sure I have seen any SHO with a full interior with anything more than a 4-point roll bar. Here are some pics of one of my caged SHOs:

He took me for a ride in it at the beginning of the month in it. In the dark, no lights in the gauges. Had exterior lights. On some country roads. That thing was sick, well planted, and I am sure he didn't give it all it had, due to not being on a track or in the daylight. Found myself clutching onto the 5 point belts in a stock seat. :)

Yes, it was.

that thing looks fast and fun :omgsho:

that is what i was looking for and that looks sick man!!!!

it should be noted, that this is not a full roll cage, but a roll bar with forward supports.

Tim's car has a full cage.

and I would not recommend using a 'pipe' bender on anything but pipe, if you're building a cage, you use Tube. usually DOM tube.

Please correct me if I am wrong anyone. I've used 'pipe' benders (unit like the one they sell at HFT that uses a jack) to try and bend DOM tubing and it creased it and crinked it and ovalled it more often than it ever made a good bend.

luckily what I was doing wasn't structural. I ended up getting so sick of it happening, I ended up just filling the tube with sand and heating it with a torch and bending it around a buck.

**Edit**

Tim, who did your cage?

It should be noted that this is not my car. With that said, I think you are wrong.

It is a full 6 or 8 point cage. No door bars, but with a full interior, this is the best I've seen.

EDIT: If you look, the bars continue behind the main hoop. You cannot see in these pics, but they connect to the rear strut towers.

Donovan the reason the PIPE bender did not work is because of pipe measurement is taken on the ID and tubing is taken on the OD (D= diameter)

So what happens is the mandrels are different radius and when not used on the correct material (tube will fit pipe bender ,but usually pipe will not fit tube bender mandrel) creasing on the inside radii and to much stretched material on the outer radii, cause thin walling thus unsafe tube!
