Warning: Words
I have gone through the threads and cant quite figure out if the tensioner pulley should be flat, have raised edges, or have teeth that fit to the belt. I have a 99' SHO with a 97' engine. I did not do the swap so I am not sure which tensioner was used (or if there is even a difference)
Currently the pulley has teeth but I tried several parts stores that said the computers list a flat pulley that they could get but would need to order.
Why I am asking this (in case my diagnosis is wrong):
After I start my car there is rapid clicking sound that becomes quieter after the engine has been driven a few miles or idles for half an hour or so. It also seems to be very pronounced at right around 2800 rpm. (I don't hear it at all with the serpentine belt off so I can assume it not the cams? (which are recently welded)) I had a friend with a stethoscope (carefully) check the alternator pulley and said it was bad. So I replaced the alternator (Holy Cow) and while the old pulley feels bad the clicking is still there. While the belt was off I spun the rest of the pulleys and the tensioner seemed a little rough so I was going to replace that or the bearing but wanted to make sure I have the right pulley before I start hunting for parts.
