so i have been fightin with my changer since i got the car.
wouldnt play without skipping.. or simtimes even read the cd..

so i get to diggin and reading cause you KNOW someone else had this problem too.

read a thread on v8sho.com about moving it to the rear dec and off the floor..

IT WORKS LIKE A CHARM!!!!! no skipping no trouble at all!

tools needed:
-flat screwdriver
-phillips screwdiver
-7mm socket
-hole punch
-BFH
-mounting screws
-locktight
-drill/drill bit

1) remove the cd's from the changer

2) pull the carpet back and you will see the mounting brackets for the changer.

3) Unplug the changer

4) remove the mounting brackets and changer from the car using your 7mm socket.

5) move feed wire up and over the stock trunk molding.

6) replace trunk molding back to stock position.

7) remove brackets from disc changer with your phillips driver

8) peel off the thin plastic covering the suspension load spring for the disc player. (it says "UP" on it)

9) remove the tiny phillips screw (be careful!) locking the suspension in the vertical position.

10) rotate the load spring to the hoizontal position. re-install the locking screw in the second hole (you will see when you get it apart)

11) brackets, now theres the easy way and hard way to do this. i did it the hard way cause i was at work and couldnt leave. the easy way would be to go buy some L-brackets and do it that way.

the hard way-
you have two brackets your looking at, one thats pretty easy to bend to your liking, and the other that your going to hate.

bracket one: is on the right side (facing the player) cut off the second tab, you wont need it anymore, you will need to bend the other tab to a 90* angle to mount it to the deck lid. it should be pretty easy to figure out.

bracket two: left side (facing the player)go get lunch cause this is a pain. you have to cut off the odd angle. i used a hack saw and it took me about 10 min. after you do that you then need to also bend this to a 90* angle to the player. i used a BFHand lots of MacGyver movesto get it into the position i was happy with. i wish i took pics but this was at work and inbetween cars so i didnt have time. after you get it to your 90*, you will need to drill new holes. this is a crap shoot but worked out well for me in the end.

12) mount brackets back to the player

13) check feed line lenth and choose a spot to your liking on the rear deck
i went about 6 inches to the right of the trunk mounting bracket..
mark your spot with a sharpie.

14) make your holes, i used a hole punch and self taping machine screws. worked great! and ended very secure.

15) reinstall feed line to player and check for power. as long as everything worked out ok, go for a drive and see if your skipping is gone.

im sorry this is a crude write-up, and no pics. but it was completely free and i think sometimes that what matters most.

feel free to PM me with questions
