I need to replace my TOB, the new one I got with my clutch kit is bad. I would like to use the Factory Ford bearing, but I don't know the Inner Diameters. The one Ford sells has a 35.7mm (1.4055") ID. Is this the one for using the sleve? Or is this the stock size...?

Thanks!

I keep hearing that the ceramic TOBs are the best. But, I still haven't seen any proof... If anyone can show me pictures of fingers off a caramic TOB with 50K+ miles on it, and it has less wear, I'll get one. I already know what mine looked like when I took it out. It was grooved, but not too bad after 64K miles.

I just can't see spending twice as much for something when I haven't seen or heard any hard evidence.

Thanks for the suggestion tho. thumb

I have heard of many premature failures due to finger wear even with the Ford Rev. B TOB.

Never heard of a premature failure with teh ceramic TOB. You might email Josh T at sho nut and ask him if they have had any problems with them, and how their lifespan is in comparison with the ford unit.

There is hard evidence. With the ceramic TOB the clutch disc will wear down before the ceramic TOB fails. $95 isn't a lot of money, especially when it comes to a part that can't be swapped out in a few hours. I'd rather have a ceramic TOB in my car then worrying about whether the stock one is going to fail and chew up my pressure plate fingers. But the choice is up to you if you want to take that chance, it's your car and thankfully not mine.

Thanks for the info, but that seems to be the same thing I keep hearing. I have read it many times.

I guess I was looking at the wrong thing on SHOnut... I thought it was $155. oh That's for the all metal one... hmmm

Okay, for $25 more, it's worth it... with or without hard evidence. wink

Thanks guys! thumb

It's $60 more than the stock TOB SHONUT has for sale. Regardless it is worth the price. When I ordered mine, Josh indicated that on several teardowns for 3.2 conversions they found zero wear on the fingers. This is not the norm for the stock TOB. Given his reputation, I'll take his word for it. Pictures not needed.

One ? for you guys! Why is it that the sleave that came with the ceramic TOB was sloppy compaired with the one that was already there? The one that was there fit nice not tight, the one that came with it was very sloppy. Is there a reason foar that?

At the base of the sleeve are two retaining notches. Did you push them in to secure the sleeve? Also always use high-strength sleeve retainer on the inside of the sleeve.
