Does anyone know the exact difference in the 20" tires that come with the SHO Performance package and the 20" tires that come as option 64B.

I do know that the tires in the performance package are Y-rated with summer rubber and are run flat (with no spare).

All I know about the 20" tire with option 64B are that they are the same size as the other tires ( P245/45R20). Are these tires also run flat or do you get a spare tire with these?

Also, should the Y-rated 20" tires have just as "rough" a ride as the summer tires in the performance package?

Thanks

I don't know about non-PP tires, but the 20" summer tires are likely something from the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS line (GS EMT, GS-2 EMT, or GS-D3 EMT).

Anyone know which tire it is? I neglected to look at the convention.

The std SHO w/20"Alloys comes with Tires – P245/45VR20 All-Season BSW(various manufacturers) while with the Perf. Pkg they are P245/45YR20 Goodyear Eagle F1 summer-compound performance tires. Neither tire is a run-flat tire. The A/S tire comes with a Temp Spare while the Performance Pkg comes with Tire mobility kit(fix-a-flat). Although neither tire is a run-flat, both do come with Tire Pressure Monitoring System. Hope this helps.

Ah, I see. So scratch the EMT moniker from those models, and it's still one of those three.

The Goodyear Eagle F1's are Supercar tires too, not part of the GS line. The standard 245/45VR20 all-season tires i've seen on SHO's around here have all been Michelins BTW.

And FWIW I've heard from new SHO owners that the Eagle F1 Supercar tires are pretty rough and loud, so they are already looking to replace them, even though they have amazing grip.

I went on TireRack.com and did a search for OEM tires for the 2010 SHO with 20" wheels and here is what they showed:

Original Equipment Tire Size: 245/45-20
2 tires available

Look at the difference between the Speed rating, treadwear and traction ratings!

Well there you go. BTW, did you look at the prices too? You should add that to you post also. They're gonna be quite expensive to replace, especially since the F1's won't last very long.

And I'm surprised Ford didn't go with the Eagle F1 GS-D3's. I've seen prototypes with them on and when I had them on my '95, I found them to be amazing in ever aspect except wear and price. Plus they look much sexier.

The Michelin is $209per tire, while the Goodyear is $286per tire. If you click on the link, it pulls up the full page.

The Michelin is a regular all-season touring tire and is by NO MEANS a performance tire. (even though it says it has a "V" speed rating) THAT is the main difference. The Michelin will be a nice option for those complaining about the loud noise & rough ride of the F1's but don't expect much in the ways of grip.

I don't think that the F1 GS-D3 tires are used as OEM on anything, they are an aftermarket tire only as far as I know. Nice rubber for sure, I had a set on my 95 SC ... even in 40-series 19" they rode well. Lots of grip wet and dry too.

cheers
