I had an unsettling experience at the drag strip yesterday. It was in the 90’s, too hot to even be there. I had made one run and was in line for another. I should have shut off while waiting but I didn’t. I also left it in S while waiting since I already had traction control and stabilink both off. I was ****** because they had too much water in the burnout box and I couldn’t avoid it like I normally do. Pulled as great holeshot but when it went to shift, all I had was what seemed like neutral. I let off on the gas and coasted wondering if I had dropped the tranny. I looked down to be sure it was still in S and it was. I moved the lever to D and back then realized it was in gear and I drove the rest of the way with the et of a bicycle. Since then I’ve driven quite a few miles and this has not repeated. I also thought about the transfer case and me having water just on the right side tires. Car is 2015 PP. Anyone have ideas?

Probably disengaged the PTU when it found a situation it couldn't handle. A safety measure. Not a great feeling, but it does save the drivetrain.

Thank you for that answer. I was hoping that I wasn’t the first one to ever had this happen. I’m not running even near the hp that some members here have. Do you think it might have been heat related or maybe the water box incident? Or should I be looking for something else? I used an OBD2 code reader when I got home and no codes were found.

Most likely waterbox incident. Uneven traction (road surface/tire condition/etc) & continuous adjustment that did not work caused fallback to safety. It'd have been easier to have all 4 wheels go through the waterbox.

Mine did something similar once, it was 50 degrees outside, I thought the same thing, haven't had any issues since that hiccup.
