all this talk about intercoolers has got my attention. I want my motor to last as long as a N/A thats taken care of. I don't beat the **** out of it, so I think it SHOULD be possible.
What would be signs of detonation?
How would an a/f reading on a dyno read if it was in a redzone for detonation?
Any other input... bring it on in here:thumb:

You are running a stock 3.0 on your SHO correct? How many miles, what kind of injectors/ fuel pump, and most importantly how much Boost?

have you made a dyno run? if so what is your a/f ? If you are afraid about detonation then invest in a wide band o2 to see what your a/f is at all times also cheap insurance is high octane fuel.

rebuilt 3.0
forged rods/pistons
lowered CR 9:1
roughly 10,000 miles
Shoshop 6-9 psi blower kit (fuel pump, injectors, maf, lpm, exhaust, etc...)
dyno showed it to be running rich:

RPMS A/F
2700 13
4000 11
5000 11.2
6000 BELOW 10
7000 11

David, a TwEECer and about 2 hours of dyno tuning would net you a significant amount of hp without much difficulty. A 10:1 A/F ratio is pig rich and not suitable for power or emissions. It might be safe, but it's overkill. I think you could see a very nice gain in drivability (and smoothness through the powerband) if you raised the A/F to around 12.5 - 12.8:1.

As far as knowing whether or not the car is knocking, your guess is as good as anyone elses. Without any real provision for determining if timing is being ********, there is really no way to know until you hear audiable pinging or your picking chunks of piston up out of your oil pan. :) Again, Enter TwEECer: the datalogging version will allow you to see (and log) runs which include a timing function.

Lastly, We're going to be offering a knock gauge for the F/I'd cars similar to an A/F gauge. Basically it will consist of 3 green lights, 3 yellow, and 3 red, each set of lights associated with the degree of safety ranging from "It's probably ok" to "$hit's about to hit the fan!". :)

It will consist of the gauge itself, an adapter to decipher the AC signal from the Knock sensor, and all wiring. It will be a standard 2 1/16th inch gauge.
