Hello! I’ve owned my 2014 SHO since March of this year, but I just recently found out about this forum! I’ve been reading and seeing a lot of capable upgrades as I’m looking for a stage 1 or stage 2 package. I’m wondering if there is anything else that I should get that a package may not include, such as spark plugs. I did see a couple of simple packages from Unleashed. I’m not good with looking up car parts but I am interested in making my car a little faster and louder, so all suggestions are appreciated but please simplify things as much as possible. Sorry to sound like a dummy. I also read about “87 Octane” or something along those lines. I don’t mind spending anywhere between $1500-3000 on parts, although I’m not looking for anything crazy. All help or advice is appreciated. Thank you!

Best around for someone new is Gearhead. Best way is to contact them by phone or email. Their/matts tunes are spot on and no issues. Stay away from Livernois and Ortiz, too many powertrains suffered from their careless tunes. And they both hide their shame with discounted parts/tunes. Good luck, plenty of people on here can help with straight answers and no maybe/ifs.

Thank you for the link. Seems simple enough. I’m sure it’s not as easy as installing a handheld tuner for custom tunes.. no other parts needed or recommended?

One step colder spark plugs with a tighter gap is highly recommended, otherwise you could suffer spark blowout. In general loading the tunes is pretty simple.

Depending on your goals, a tune really wakes up the car and helps the throttle feel. Gearhead auto octane is the best, put in whatever gas you want and it will adjust the tune automatically. Matt at gearhead will tell you what to gap plugs to. May want to get a 3 bar map sensor so the car can accurately adjust for higher boost the tune allows. Once you tune it, you wont want to go back. But you also will not want to stop adding more.

A few mods and the car moves like a 5000lb 2013 awd Bentley twin turbo v8

okay cool, I’m looking into those right now. how exactly does the gap work? is it pre-installed? I’m looking at NGK 6510 but only Mustang EcoBoosts are coming up. This is where I start to get confused and frustrated lol

They are pre gapped but always good to double check them before installing.

These are what I run.

why the hate all of a sudden? I yet to see where all these engine failures are, and our customer base is very satisfied. Discounts are to give back to the community, we have nothing to hide and nothing to detract from. We've had very few issues for the hundreds of new customers we see every month. So not sure why you're throwing shade unless you know something we don't.

Only because they send out the TV infomercial tunes. If only Billy May's was still alive he could say set it and forget it. Or maybe ask Ron Popeil if he can step away from the rotisserie sales for a few days and have a spokesperson for the run of the mill tunes.
