Ford Taurus SHO (1996-1999) Lawsuit
Re: Eck et al. v. Ford Motor Company
02 CH 22068, Cook County, Illinois
ECL&G No.: 9411
Dear Current or Former 1996-1999 Taurus SHO Owner:
As you should be aware our firm is representing the plaintiffs and the putative class members in this matter involving the alleged defective camshafts and false representations made by Ford involving the Ford Taurus V8 SHO1996 - 1999 model years. You are receiving this letter as you have either contacted our firm or Mr. Eck or Mr. Wright and they forwarded your information on to us.
As a plaintiff and class representative, Ford's attorneys will request discovery from you. Discovery can be in the form of answering questions about your SHO, producing documents of the purchase and the maintenance of your SHO. If you still own the SHO, you may need to have Ford examine your SHO; so far this has been done in the SHO owners' city of residence. You may also need to be deposed by Ford; answering questions under oath that are recorded by a court reporter.
We are specifically looking for plaintiffs who have experienced any of the following:
1. Experienced a camshaft failure and have receipts for the repairs.
2. Have had their camshafts welded to prevent a camshaft failure and have the receipts for the weld.
3. Had a camshaft failure and sold the vehicle at a loss.
4. Had a camshaft failure and could not afford the repairs and did not sell or dispose of the vehicle.
5. Contacted Ford's Customer Service Line and were informed that the problem was caused by "abuse or neglect" or were informed that this had never happened to anyone else.
6. Wrote to Ford regarding a camshaft failure.
7. Have seen Ford's advertisements or the statement in the owner's manual that the engine could run 100,000 miles without maintenance.
8. Had Loctite applied to the camshafts.
9. Had any other type of engine failure that resulted in repairs to the engine.
If you are interested in being a plaintiff and class representative please promptly contact me directly at (312) 917-4521.
Sincerely,
s/ Curtis C. Warner
