dashboard conrols, help!

ok, when I put my new head-unit into my 92, what do I need to buy besides the regular install kit? Is there something I need to buy to make the new head-unit work with those dashboard controls that are above the steering wheel? Anyone?

Sorry guy, those controls become obsolete with the installation of an aftermarket stereo, unless major custom wiring is done to head unit.

Best Buy carries an interface that will allow you to run the redundant controls on the dashboard. It runs $59.99, but you have to have a radio capable of accepting an ir remote signal.

The SWC Interface operates with a variety of vehicles that are equipped with steering wheel controls. The SWC converts the signal generated by the steering wheel control to an infrared signal that controls the aftermarket head-unit. The aftermarket head-unit must be equipped with an original infrared remote for the SWC to work. The SWC will work with Alpine, Clarion, Denon, Eclipse, JVC, Nakamichi, Kenwood, Panasonic, Pioneer, Rockford and Sony head units. Other radios with infrared remote controls may be able to use this system. Testing procedures for other head-units are included in the instructions. Forum Price $64.98

I havn't tried it out yet but my distributor says it works well. This product normally goes for $74.98. If i get more than 6 orders (group buy) I can take another 5 bucks off. leaving the price of $59.98.

Why not just buy the remote it will cost less in some cases. I would rather remove them and put something else in place.
