I've had a few questions about the Livernois/Alky Control Methanol Kit and figured I'd post some photos of Darrell's install here.

Livernois Motorsports "Alky" methanol injection kit for the Taurus SHO allows for better cooling of the intake air charge which results in a denser air charge for more efficient power. It's a progressive system designed for 100% methonal.

Includes:

Pump
Controller
High quality hoses, lines, and fittings
Nozzle
3-Bar MAP sensor
(2) Plastic reservoirs so you are able to retain the windshield washer function. (Small remote tank to fill and a 2 qt. tank to hold the fluid; the OEM tank will be the meth tank)
2-Stage LED Light that shows when the system is priming and activated/spraying. If the methanol level is low, the light will go from green to red.

Most people would open the hood and never see anything out of the ordinary, the kit is very well hidden.

Washer fluid tank is now the methanol tank and the 2 qt. tank is the new washer fluid tank

Nice Job.. Did you move the "Low Windshield Washer" sensor to the new smaller tank?

Otherwise, we already have a low fluid sensor on our WW tanks.

What size is the Methanol Spray Nozzle?

Where is the BOOST/Pump Controller mounted, and at what pressure does it start spraying? Is it set based on the Dyno results, or can Darreli manually adjust it?

Lastly, about how much does all this hardware cost, and how much for the Dyno tuning to make it work properly?

low meth, is much more important than low washer fluid.

Bob,
The kit itself is $800.00 and if you already purchased a tuning device from us, it's roughly an additional $200 to dyno tune.

You are correct, the WW tank has a low fluid sensor, but this light is green when it's spraying and red when it's low. Darrell's car still has it in the OEM WW tank as well.

Darrell responded to your questions on the other forum saying:

"I can answer a couple of those questions and I'm also gonna post a few more pics like the pump mounting and stuff once I get in front of my computer. It uses a #10 nozzle and it's boost controlled...not exactly sure where it starts as that was all part of the dyno tuning. The actual controller is mounted under the dash. I guess I could change the settings as I have access to it, but I'm not sure why I'd want to mess with them since it was adjusted on a dyno.

I wanted the Low WW sensor to stay on the the tank holding the Methanol. That way when the low fluid alert comes up I know it's time to add methanol. It's not really critical if I run out of windshield washer fluid...I'll just fill it when I get home.

All the hardware minus the brackets for the pump and the slave WW tank come with the kit unless Livernois installs it, then it's part of the install price.

As far as cost of install/tuning....I have to let Rick answer that"

Nice, clean and well thought out install. I'm digging the stealth look of this kit for sure!! :dribble:

Is that $800.00 just for the kit only or was that the kit and installation at your shop Rick?

Thanks ****!

This price is for the kit itself, the install is pretty time consuming.

I had an ALKY control system on my 2001 Saleen 2v (custom 2.8 KB). Hoolio is great and the system worked flawlessly and is definetly the way to go. Buick GN guys have been using his systems for years.

I will be adding a meth kit on my non SHO boosted vehicle. Is there any location that is better than another when it comes to mounting the nozzle?

You need to mount it facing up, and slightly in front of the MCT sensor if you have one, and if possible - angled towards the Throttle Body. This means it needs to be mounted in a hard section of the inlet pipe, as close as is safely possible to the flexible connecting sleeve where it attaches to the TB.

Since my Sho is only 2 months old, i have put the Airaid system in and my Livernois tuner should be arriving in the mail today.
My only previous Turbocharged car was a 1987 Chrysler TSI which was a 4 banger but i was able to install a bleeder valve and boost the Turbo to 14.

Anyways, my question is this, is this something that a normal weekend warrior mechanic could install , or should this be taken to a speed shop or any other automotive shop. I definitely do not want to screw up the SHO (my wife would kick my a$$) but i want to get the most power out of my SHO.
Is there anything I would need to know by running this kit in the car, as far as in operation dont do something or i could damage the engine or turbo's.

I apologize for the different questions, but this is the best forum for Gen IV SHO and everyone seems to know what they are talking about.

P.S. When i ordered by tuner from Livernois on Tuesday the gentleman that helped me order it on the phone was awesome to talk to. He seemed to really know his stuff.

The Alky Control system Livernois sells, is best installed by them, AND needs to be tuned for the Methanol injection, otherwise it will actually hurt your performance slightly.

The system I have installed came from Torrie @ Unleashed Tuning/Ford Fast Parts Network.
I installed it myself, though it took some time, simply because I wanted to make sure I installed it correctly. It is a simpler-less complicated system, that is either on... or off... based on boost pressure. If you have purchased tunes from Torrie, as well as buying this system, he can tune it for you by analyzing SCT Logging data, and making adjustments based on the data you send him. This system, combined with a 3 Bar sensor is what I have used to get my 12 second times in my Flex.

It is my opinion that both Livernois & Torrie have great tunes, and are by far the best EB tuners out there. I have tunes from both. In my situation, where I live a long distance from Detroit & Livernois, Torrie's tuning has gotten me better times due to his willingness to continually tweak my system. Can't go wrong with either.....
