Yesterday we had Darreli's SHO on the dyno. When he came to pick the car up, I went for a ride with him and the differences over the previous street tune were night and day.

I will post the graph, but max values aren't displayed, because they are skewed since there is a spike in the beginning of the graph.

Blue lines are the stock baseline with CAI, red lines are after with the CAI and our custom tune.

Impressive! That is a monster improvement, especially in HP on the top end. My eyes are seeing 343whp/358ft lbs, compared to 277whp/329ft lbs.

Awesome! Can't wait to see what it does at the track.

Now if only I could find someone like Livernois here in Denver...

Here is the video/graph from our car. Our car made less power than Darrell's, but we don't have a CAI and his has more break-in miles. We're still very happy with the results!

Cam upgrades typically are not a very impressive mod when you're dealing with forced induction. Usually stock cams are sufficient.

Impressive!!!

Would you define that as a "safe" street tune? 93 octane??

Are you seeing any problems with fuel delivery??

Thanks

You are right. I was thinking of NA cars somehow.:nut:

I should've said imagine putting a bigger single turbo...:dribble:

Brian,

This is a very safe 93 octane tune and we are having no problem with fuel delivery at this level.

We plan on pushing ours harder eventually to see what we can get out of it.

I would be curious to see what the stock turbos are capable of. The power band on these cars is so sweet that even if raising the boost took them out of their efficiency range I would probably look in to running cooler E85 and over boosting them a bit just to keep that instant power. I'm not sure how involved that would get though with the direct injection.

I have a feeling the stock turbos might make more power than the drivetrain will handle. With the weight of the car there has to be a good deal of stress on it.

Yeah, Dan said there is no problem with fuel currently. I'll be at Milan friday night if all goes well. I'll post up the results.

I don't think the stock turbos would make more than the drivetrain can handle. They are very small.

We had an Escalade shop truck we bought in 2003 and we built a single turbo kit for it and had various turbos from GT37 to GT67 and it weighed 6,055 lbs. and went 12's on 24's. We thought that might break stock drivetrian parts, but never had any problems and drove it like we stole it! For something that weight to go that fast, it was making well over 600 WHP.

I can see an escalade drivetrain being a bit more beefier though coming from a platform that has access to heavy duty truck parts.

The SHO on the other hand is a transverse car setup that really has no other applications for high power motors. As far as drivetrain parts breaking my main concern would be the transmission not handling a lot of additional power.

Then again it may hold a lot. Only time will tell.

You don't want a lot overlap with forced induction that's why stock cams usually work well.

The new AWD dyno is a great tool for us. We thought the street tune was pretty good, but found a lot more power on the dyno. This is the only way to tune!

I agree.. no one knows yet. We'll push ours to the limit and see what it will take.

how much psi does a stock sho run on from factory. also the turbo size ??

EDIT: 86 si beat me to it.. It makes 12 lbs stock. They are water-cooled GT15's w/ electronically controlled wastegate.
