The fuel line got kinked at the female coupler at the firewall connections. It is dripping. Can the line be cut & shortened and inch and pushed back on the barbed end of the coupler? I see there is no clamp of any sort. Will the plastic line stay on if its just pushed back on after cutting off the damaged section?

No, the plastic line is crimped to the garter connector. Unfortunately, the only real solution will be to find a replacement line, probably used since I suspect they are now discontinued from Ford.

I found the Helms book-it says cut off the bad end of the line & submerse the end in boiling water for 1 minute to aid in pushing it bach on the barbed end. I worked out well.

Ford has a tool for repairing the plastic lines and couplers
looks similar to a modified caulking gun and pushes the tubing onto connector barbs
my local L-M dealers parts department repairs fuel line stuff, most likely other dealers can too

So it worked?? No leaks?
It worked very well. I can see how a "special tool" would aid in pushing or pulling the plastic line back on the barbed connector. To hold a paper cup of boiling water back there in the engine bay at a 45 degree angle for 1 minute can be ******* the fingers. and the tube softened up over an inch making the line prone to kink again. however, the line is less likely to crack if softened by heat.

I was a advance auto today and they had a repair kit. Wasn't cheap though, ~18 or so. Had a very nice metal barb fitting and it was longer than the norm and not brass, was cad plated. The plastic was ~12" or so with a new end on it.
