Ok, not sure if this should be in upgrades or electronics... Anyway I have a '93 ATX and I am making a run to the used-parts-heaven :) . I was wanting to pick up a D4U1 TCM and I have no idea what it looks like or where it is. Any help to clue me in would be cool. Also are the ignition switches the same between the ATX and MTX? Thanks in advance.

Empty out the glove box. While it's open, press in on the sides to get it off the track, and it should swivel straight down. Looking straight back there should be the back of the pcm staring at you. There is a small white plastic bracket that you need to remove, and there is a bolt that has to be unscrewed from the other side of the firewall that's part of the wiring connector.

The best way to get the ECM out is to use a pair of channel locks on it. I finally figured it out after spending all kinds of time with a couple of screwdrivers trying to pry it out. Just remove the 10mm(I think) bolt from the engine compartment holding the connector on the back side of the computer, then pull the computer out from the glove box. Use a wiggling motion as you pull, the computer is usually held tightly in place by a gasket. Oh yeah, the white bracket that must be removed for the computer to come out is held there by a 5.5mm screw. It can be a pain to get a socket on there too.

You don't have to actually remove that screw to get the white bracket out. The bracket is slotted where it meets the holding screw and a good pair of pliers pulling rearward can probably pull it off.

When you go to put it back in take the rubber gasket out of the firewall, put it on your new D4U1, and then install the entrire assembly back in the firewall.
