Is this the same thing as the camshaft position sensor? I went to ford and asked them about it and they told me that ford calls it a syncro. I dont know. I bought the part, its round and cost me $20 but that was after getting my friends discount (normally 30). Anyway I just wanted to make sure that I had the right part.

Any help would be appreciated! Also does any one have a procedure list for changing this part. I know very little about it. Is it hard to do?

Thanks,
Mike

I thought the cam sensor was known as the CID - Cylinder Identification sensor. Are you sure you got the right one? It should be black, mostly circular with a flat spot. It is in the rear passenger side of the engine compartment. Past the intake near the strut tower. Install isn't hard except there isn't much room to work back there. Look at the shotimes.com website for several different procedures in the 'care and feeding section'.

If it is a round, plastic sensor about 2.5" in diameter, it is the CID or camshaft sensor. It is mounted with two 5.5mm screws to the passenger side end of the rear bank exhaust camshaft. You can access it more easily by removing the screws holding teh power steering fluid reservoir and lifting and ty-wraping up, out of the way. Becareful not to spill the fluid.

Thanks guys, from the sounds of it I bought the right sensor. Ill have to tackle that today, not that is seems too hard or anything. The hardest part was identifing what the sensor looked like and where it was located!
