well, yesterday I noticed that my cv boot has been torn within the last week. It is really cold around here so I think i'm just going to get a quick boot for now. Then maybe in the summer i'll do the real job with halfshafts and joints. I have called pep boys and they say that the quick boots are for only the regular taurus. He says it reads "except the SHO". Which one do I get?

Don't waste your time. If cv is not making any noise just pack it with grease and temp seal with duct tape. Those quick boots are a waste. Been there, done that, ain't going to do it again.

With the snow, slush, and salt,i don`t think Duct Tape is going to hold very long.I would pack it with grease regularly though, keep the grit as far away as the bearing as you can with it.By springtime, they will be ruined for sure, but it might buy you enough time.

I installed one of the quick boots from Pep Boys and sealed the seam with RTV. The boot stayed intact for a "temporary" 100,000 miles until I replaced it with a solid boot. I have a new one at home for emergencies. I can get the number later today if you still don't have it. I looked up the number in the cross reference guide at the display at Pep Boys.
