So, after my first day of autocross, i was driving a fellow sho owner to autozone who blew a brake line, and while i was rolling into the lot, 2nd gear, about 1500 rpm, all of a sudden i hear some awful noises and the car kinda starts lurching, so i stop and **** the engine. Started it up again, in neutral it revs fine, i can get it into gears as well as i could beforehand, but when let the clutch start to engage, it makes a not friendly noise, and is undrivable. When we pushed it into position for the tow truck, even in neutral it seemed as if it were in gear, because there was resistance, and it was as if the clutch was still engaged. I'm wondering if somethin with the clutch or maybe a cv join its wrong? Thanks

Get a flashlight, put the car safely on jackstands and crawl under there and start looking around. Start by looking at both sides of the tranny case around the diff for signs of unintended ventilation.

Jack it up, put in gear, and see if the noise exist. When my axle went out, it would spin the tires in gear, while on jackstands, but if I applied throttle aggressive, the axle would grind.

The axle will make the vehicle undrivable, so as a clutch disc grinding on the flywheel, but not a blown differential. Sounds like an axle if the clutch is in good shape.

The clutch wasn't in good shape, so i'm goin w/ that

Edit: I started it up today, got it to move a few feet back and forth relatively ok, pushed it in neutral, and it was a clunk w/ some resistance, so i'm going to put it up on stands tonight and see if i can find anything fishy. How can i tell if its a cv joint or an axle that's bad?
