Holy shat, you got a thread from 2004 talking about this?

Anyway, DO NOT cut from the bottom. You always cut the dead coils (the ones close together). Cutting live coils changes the spring rate and travel.

I cut one coil from the front and 1.75 coils in the rear. Frankly, I think I should've reversed it, because the front end sits up too high and the ass end sags a little. But hey, whatcha gonna do?

I cut 2 coils from the front and left the rears stock. Perfect stance IMO and has a nice rake to it. Front and rear fender gap is damn near even, the car is just raked that much.

Hahaha okay cut from top...glad I asked to double check. Thanks for the help as I'm installing the new rear struts and all 4 springs tomorrow to rid my stock rear sagging springs and front 4x4 monroe quickstrut springs

Why would you cut the rear springs at the bottom? I don't understand. Everything I've ever heard or read about cutting springs said to only ever cut the dead coils as to not alter the characteristics of the spring.

Well, not you have me second guessing.

So I went out and looked at my Moog equipped '89

I believe you are correct, in cutting the TOP of the rears is better.

But Im not 100% certain.

Really though, I see no need to cut the rears. As you can lower the ride height a LOT by dropping the strut in the knuckle.

Cut the coils that are closest together. I can't ever tell the difference between top and bottom on the rear springs. I cut a coil out of the front and left the rear alone when I put Moogs on my 91.

On my 93, I could hardly drop the strut 1/2" before the tire hit the spring perch, but I have 8" wheels and 245mm tires.
