WHY would you be revving it? WHY would you drive an ATX like it was an MTX? Do you always beat on your car like this?

Sounds like it could be as simple as your IAB not operating properly, or maybe the idle speed setting. Or, more seriously, the needless revving could also have resulted in a spun bearing or torque converter damage that could also be causing the stalling.

If you drive a SHO like a race car you will park it in an early grave. I will not feel sympathy for you, but instead for your poor, abused car. The SHO is a TAURUS (as in four door family sedan)with a great engine. The guys here that successfully use their SHOs for racing have usually paid the price by upgrading the parts that were not intended to take the forces invloved with racing. Nowhere in the production design of this car was the idea that the car would be intended for racing. The car is a sporty family sedan. Deal with it.

Using an automatic transmission for engine braking only shortens the life of the transmission that much more. Use the brakes. That is what they were designed for.

The problem could be as simple as the idle speed program needing a reset or as labor intensive as a failing crankshaft position sensor. Search for and perform the idle speed reset procedure. If you have seen the CHECK ENGINE light at all during these events, you must retrieve the coes form the EEC. Again, this procedure has been posted here many times. Just use the search function.

I wasn't assuming anything! I was responding to exactly what you said you were doing in your post: revving the car while in PARK, and 'powershifting' (as you call it -- which I think this is the first time I've ever heard this term used in conjunction with an auto. trans.).

I don't think either qualifies as 'driving it normally'. I drive my car as hard as the next guy and enjoy it thoroughly, BUT, I don't subject it to the type of abuse you describe in your original post.

In any case, enjoy your SHO while it lasts! :) You'll find the forum a plethora of valuable information when it comes time to rebuild your engine and tranny.

You just set yourself when you type like a friggen california valley girl, that would be on any disscussion board.

This issue could be many things so your going to have to get better details of whats happening.

It could even be a now bad headgasket.

I respect the man (Scott), I was half kidding, I have found how expensive trannys are.

I just thought SHOooo was a little uptight on his responce.

We don't drive these cars for their reliability.
We drive them for their power and quickness.

The dude was just looking for advice not a critic.

Please lets restore our peace in the SHO world.

for starters, you may want to clean your IAC and possibly the throttle body. Make sure your air filter is clean.

This is relatively simple and costs almost nothing. DO this before chasing gremlins.
