I dont think you can cut Eibach's and have the same results as intrax. 1 coil is cut from an intrax spring because it is a "dead coil" which means it doesnt affect the springs action. I dont think eibachs have any dead coils, but I could be wrong.

Eibach's has dead coils, I believe only about half a coil. I cut 1 coil on mine, its pretty good. Don't cut no more than 2 coils though. Cut half a coil, put it in, check the stance, u can always cut more half a coil at a time.

I used a welding torch to cut my springs. Sawzall won't work, u can try, just be safe.

Welding torch is bad for cutting springs, it can change the spring constant and affect the structual rigitidy of the spring. The best way to cut them is to use a air grinder with a cutting wheel.

I was careful, I wrapped the springs with the proper materials so it won't heat the whole spring, just the part that is being cut off.

Best way is to use a angle grinder with a cutting disk, total time to cut spring. About 5 seconds. With very little heat.
Do not use a cutting torch. No matter how well you wrap the steel its still going to travel inside the spring and will change the properties of the metal.

I don't know what else to say. I've had the set of eibachs with tokicos on my '92 for almost 2 yrs w/o a prob. I do check the springs for structural integrity often, no complaints here. The cutting wheels work for me too.

BAH!

I used a skill-saw and a 7-1/2 inch cutoff blade

Total cut time....... under 2 seconds

I did try to use a carbide hacksaw at first. That didnt stay in my hands for more than a minute. Spring steel is HARD stuff.

I *still* don't agree that cutting springs is in any way a good idea. You don't shave your brake pads down to cut back unsprung weight, do you?

SHOBlime, I understand your point. Its just a cheap way to lower the profile of your car. Lots of drag racers do this too, just need to be on the safe side, don't cut too much off.

Hey man if your going to put the Eibachs do not cut them. I put them in my SHO and the ride got harder. It also looks pretty mean anought without you cutting it

The expensive way to lower your car 1.5" is only $100 more than the "cheap" way. Intrax springs...get them! I wonder how many people who cut their springs and have problems are running stock length struts?

Thats obviously what you do not understand. In order to get a STOCK ride height on the front end using MOOG coils, you MUST cut one coil. PERIOD.

I am running stock style struts (monroe sensatracs) with my cut moog setup.

Well over 30k now, and nothing but smiles everytime I drive.

Dropping the struts in the knucle-what is this, and is there a write up on how you can do this? *How much more does it lower the car?

Dont bother trying to drop the strut in the knuckle on the front end. The clearances between the tire and the spring perch, and the strut end and the CV joint are way too close for comfort.

You can do it on the rear though, and have a LOT of drop available.

Try a search on dropping the strut in the knuckle, it has been discussed many times before ;)
