Seems like a lot of work for a cheaper and easier solution for bass. Would it work, sure.

Looks like an overly complex bandpass enclosure.

Are you thinking about making one??? I'm sure it would sound good. I think it would be a lot of effort for little payoff, and it looks like a PITA to seal the enclosure while making it so you can get your subs out again.

couldn't do much more than a pair of 8s in the back of a SHO....a box for 12s would be HUGE!!!

I have the JBL system..the stocker blew and i got a wally world 12 inch pioneer and their box and plugged it into the stock bass amp.. Sounds great with my new Kenwood head unit.. Plenty of bass when i crank the system up! :D

i've got a low budget sub setup right now, too. i was talking about one of those boxes with two 12"s in it. rough estimate looking at the enclosure, you'd need at least 24" of depth, and what looks like at least 40" of width. good for an SUV...not good for a performance sedan. i might, however, play with the design a little and see what i can't come up with for a single sub with a .75 cubic foot sealed chamber. with a properly tuned ported side, it might provide some decent output even with the crappiest of subs.

I have a buddy that put a 10" inside the jbl sub box, and just upgraded the amp..... Great for double bass heavy metal tunes!!!

Wow that's gorgeous. Make me one? How much airspace in the box? Do you put stuff over the grill?

just by looking at that, and if im right on what speakers those are, im going to have to say the airspace isnt right. but I could be wrong.. please enlighten us with details :)

kikkinasphalt:

nice momo sub :) got a carbon series amp to go with it?

heh, I have some 6" drivers I need to put in, they will put your big speakers to shame, sloppy bass = bad bass!! and if the trunk lid vibrates... you FAIL! :p

i'll put my sloppy looking $50 setup against yours any day. i've been tuning systems for years, and the only thing that rattles on my car is my A pillar plastic and the sheet metal at the bottom of the spare tire well. don't get me wrong...i've heard some damn nice sounding 6" woofers, but it's gonna take more than two to take my breath away with a 40hz tone...

I'd put it up against yours...

Now, speakers, the biggest project we did was 24 soundlab majestic's, 12 per side, 4wide 3tall, filled the largest auditorium in the world with the same amount of sound from right in front of the speaker all the way to the back wall.

Bit of a sound perfectionist ;)

now where the **** is 2fast4u, he has pictures of that and his custom box(i think) he had a long long time ago.

i had this built so i could still have my trunk space. it only sits 1/2 inch off the true floor so its very useful. of course at the loss of my spare.

i put stuff on it all the time, im always hauling baby stuff when we take my daughter somewhere.

nope. im pushing it with a JL 300:1. my system was built with practicality and a tight budget in mind.

theres no telling what speaker or system will put what to shame. as its all subjective to the person hearing it.

fwiw theres no way that a 6 inch driver will sound as good/hit the same notes as a 12 inch driver. it simply isnt made to do that. so yes it will produce some of the lows but not all of them.

you can have the cheapest jensen sub and make it sound epic with a well tuned box. so dont count out the design of a box. i personally think its overkill as i could see no reason for any more bass than what my 12 in the well produces :dunno:

and last but not least.. my trunk lid dosent make a peep.
:sun:
