My plan is to have the HID projector mounted in the turnsignal spot with the lens sanded smooth so it's clear. This is the "DOT Legal" (I use this term loosely because none of this is really legal and I'm not sure if the DOT even certifies headlights...) spot for a low beam. I want to keep the 9007 bulb in place and use it as a high beam only. If you look at most cars with HID projectors, this is how it's done. Low beams go on the outside and high beams on the inside. I was going to use the fishtanks for turnsignals.

Ian,

That's what I have in mind also, except for a strip of LEDs across the bottom of the housing as the turn signal instead of it being in the fishtanks. I wouldn't sand the lens totally clear, but just the spot where the projectors are going.

Doubt I'll ever get started on this though, got lots of other stuff to get for the car before spending on lights, and I'd rather go on vacation than spending more money on cars.

The clear gts cover doesnt fit right at all. I tried this with my first set of hids then i went to a e36half and half sho turn. That was much easier . If we can find a clear adhesive then the e36 method would be perfect.

Yah, I thought about this too; a strip at the top like some of the newer BMW's. I'm also in the same boat though; I have so much other stuff to get done first. This has taken a major back seat and my headlights are actually good enough now that it's far from a priority.

See, we need to convince a company that manufactures clear lenses to make aftermarkets for our sho's... Like have everyone on the forum that would buy some write there name on a list, and we'd show the manufacturers how many people they'd probably have orders from.. Because most businesses want to make a quick buck, and we can give it to them.

Unless said company is taking a non-refundable deposit from everyone on that list, chances of it happening is very slim. Big companys usually lose money when trying to produce small order items because it ties up there resources for potentially bigger projects. Besides didn't someone try this already?

Yeah thats Davids car. I've been keeping in touch with him via emails and here's his latest.

"It went well, but I did not get the time I wanted due to some familial events that I had to deal with. I've got some touch-up work to complete before I can set the first molds, but that's about it. I just pulled the boxes back down as I finished cleaning out the garage yesterday. I'll be working on it again in December.

One good thing that has transpired during this decades long adventure is there are now many more options for turn signals. They were going to add $120 to the cost. More like $30-60 now.

Sorry for not updating, I've been so swamped that I've not even taken the time to read the forums, and have lost track of most everything.

David"
