I had to throw in a new starter several weeks ago and I was in such a rush to get it in (time crunch) that I didnt disconnect the battery wires. Well, as you might guess, I touched the red wire to the tranny and pretty much did some arc welding. For a few minutes, nothing in the car would turn on. But a few minutes later, everything worked like a charm... Except for the cruise control. It really has not been a huge deal until now. Im starting to do a lot more long distance highway driving and I really want my cruise control back. Here's the symptoms.

Going down the highway and I push the ON button followed by the SET button. I let off of the gas pedal and the car slows down as if the cruise isnt working. But the gas pedal now is extremely light. I barely push the pedal and it goes down until it reaches the speed at which I set the cruise on. At this point, the pedal goes back to its normal stiffness until I slow down again. So it feels like the cruise control is working properly but it just does not have enough power to pull back the throttle cable. Any ideas?

Sounds like a vaccum leak. Check the 2 lines that run from the controller to the the fire wall near the master cylinder.;)
