cross traffic alert failure

New member here. 2010 non pp. Didn't see a thread on this so I thought I'd share the problem symptoms and solution. Fixed today. Started a few weeks ago. In reverse when I approached an obstacle from the rear the warning speaker would make a crackle and pop noise I would then get a display warning check rear park aid. Message would go away when I put it in drive and after restart it did not appear until I reversed towards an obstacle again. A week ago the speaker stopped altogether. I then had a message check Park aid and cross traffic system alert failure that message stayed all the time and toggle between the two. I took an educated gamble and decided to change the shared speaker for the two systems. Didn't know where it was but got lucky. I folded back seats down sat on them put my legs in trunk. I'm not very large and worked like this without too much discomfort. The bolster piece next to driver side back seat just kinda fell away at the top without much persuasion I don't think it was lached in properly. Then I removed 3 barbed plastic retaining buttons holding front side of parcel tray. I was able to gingerly lift parcel tray around passenger side seat latch and up enough to peek under with a flashlight. It was right there mounted to the deck with two more barbed push pins. Ordered part from ford yesterday came in today. Replaced now and no more messages. Also get to hear the annoying sounds again. Especially the cross traffic alert. Sometimes my heart skips a beat and I slam on the brakes when I here that. Sorry a little lengthy post. Hope it helps someone
