Im replacing the timing belt and water pump and cps and seal. Im wondering if there is an aftermarket (Federal Mogul) Seal taht I could order as a replacement for the one from Ford. Only reason I worrying about such a small priced part is the time factor. Ford wants two to three days to get it and id rather have it in one. Also down here in Florida I cant seem to get the rebuilt water pump. Autozone and Napa and Discount Auto parts doesn't carry it. I have had to settle for a new one at the price of $149. That is still cheaper then Ford but still to pricey for my taste. Any suggestions on getting a rebuilt such as the Cardone within a resonable amount of time?

Thanks,
Frustrated SHO owner in Tampa

Wigglespank, I’m your neighbor over here in Dunedin, and I have just recently moved here. Are there any local places / shops that are respectable for SHO work that you know of?? I’m just asking for future needs if any. I can do most but have yet to do a 60K and Ive got my 120 coming up. Any clubs around either??

You can order a remanufactored water pump from Napa's online store for $49.99 plus shipping. I got it from the Napa store for the same price. I'll research the partnumber again for you. I gave the part number when I went to the store.

He's not looking for the water pump seal. He's looking for an aftermarket crank shaft seal as per topic.

Yes there is an aftermarket. As suggested go to rockauto.com and look up the seal than you can use that part number and chekc your local parts stores.

Cut and past from one of sdpatts lists: Front main crankshaft oil seal (National/BCA 710220)

Available from rockauto. Also from Advance Auto and O'Reilly's, probably special order.

The National (Federal Mogul) 710220 seal from O’Reilly or other local auto parts stores is about $7.99. And if you are replacing the OEM seal, you will find that it is the OEM seal.

You didn't indicate if you had a 3.0L or a 3.2L engine. The water pumps are different. The lowest price internet source that I have found is RockAuto.com. You may want to call around to other local auto supply stores first though.

3.0L: A1 Cardone 57-1373 $36.95 +$10 core
3.2L: A1 Cardone 57-1458 $50.77 +$15 core

If you take the part numbers that sdpatt has provided and go to napa and tell them you want a water pump part number 57-#### they should have it. I had the same problem they want to sell you the 149.00, but I'm here to tell you they usually carry the other in stock and just will not tell you unless you ask.

The same goes for the seals tell them you looking for a National (Federal Mogul) 710220 and they should have it as well. They will however have a different NAPA part number that will be crossreferenced.

BTW when I got mine the NAPA guy said they only carry NAPA brand parts they don't sell that A-1 Cordone crap. I proceeded to give him the A-1 part # without telling him that it was a A-1 Cordone and he gave me a price and that they had them in the wharehouse and would have it in 2 hours. 129.00 so I had them get it. I proceeded to talk with srfdude via email and he said his napa guy only wanted about 40 bucks. So I called around and found that my napa was privatly owned and could charge as they please. So I located a corprate owned and operated napa got it for 50 bucks and guess which store it came from.

Also I did let the little prik know he didn't know what he was talking about in regards to not selling anything but napa and calling A-1 Cordone crap.

Thanks everyone for the replys. I did as suggested and took the 149.99 deal back to Discount Auto and ordered the Cardone from Napa via the web. The Seal I got from Ford for 8 bucks though it did take 3 days. Im in the process of putting the deal back together. I do however have a question on the Crank shaft timing mark. Do I use the keyway as the reference point to line up the crank to the mark on the front of engine? Im not real clear on that one point.

If I'm not mistaken, the timing marks are straight up for both cams and the crank mark is at about 5 o'clock.

BTW what kind of reputation does Hastings have? They're the ones that remanufactured my WP. Just wanted to know.
