first off... when i was putting my crank sproket on, i heated it up to slide it on, but was afraid the screws that attach the 'vane deal' to the sprocket would touch my new crank seal, and melt it a bit, so I left it 1/4 inch or so shy of touching. Now it won't budge, I tried a peice of 2x4 and a hammer, but it wont tap on.. I might not be tappin hard enough, but hey, its new.. i dont wanna get my real '3-lb motivator' out. :) Does that pulley go all the way against that seal? Its so close I just cant see it, maybe its at the bottom ?

When i put my crank pulley on, being its aluminum, i'm kind of afraid to use that and an impact to tighten it down.. maybe I could put a big washer or two between the head bolt and pulley, and do it that way? I just dont want to damage the pulley.

You NEVER EVER have to beat on a crank sprocket. You sprocket may be stuck against a "cocked" key. If both the inside of the sprocket and the crank end are clean and lightly lubricated they shout slide together with some very gentle persuation, that is NO HEAT and NO Beating with a sledge.
Note: Heat will generally ruin the seal, and beating on the end of the crank could ruin the crank bearing that sets the end play.

Well the block is new, 0 miles, i cleaned the groove of the key, and the inside of the sprocket itself, and like a genious, didnt **** it first, but i've since put a little wd on it, let it soak for a few.. re arranging my garage after buying 2 more tables... :) so many peices dont want to lose anything.. :) But with a little heat it slid on no sweat and once it cooled a bit wont really budge, then again its on a stand and its a little wobbly and kind of difficult to get pressure on it.
