driving home from work yesterday the cel came on twice and both times the car stumbled something bad.....check all the obvious when I got home...this morning i get going about a mile into my commute and wham she starts stumbling again and then it cleared up and wham again and it died, but the tach was still reading over 2k rpm when the car was dead on the side of the road....but after sitting for about 5 seconds she fired right back up and i brought it back home...haven't pulled the codes yet, but sounds like a crank sensor too me....let me know what you guys think....thanks

Unplug that cam sensor and drive around for a bit. If the stumbling goes away, plug it back in. That way, when the stumbling returns, you will KNOW you found the culprit.

the car we just bought was doing the same thing and so they replaced the cam sensor...it's still doing it so now i'm replacing the crank sensor...yes it's a bigger pain in the ass but i'm pretty sure that is what it is.

No you don't. That sounds dangerous, anyway. The cam sensor is not needed to start the car...it's just needed to start the car on the first turn of the key every time. If you pull the cam sensor and go to start the car, you may have to try to start it up to 3 times...it WILL start.

Who said a 211 code was a crank sensor? 214 could be a crank, cam sensor or DIS. I would start with changing the cam sensor since it's cheap and easy to change and see what codes come up after that. With a 211 and 214 code I would say it's the DIS but the cam sensor is so cheap it's worth it to try it first.

I have read several post that have said that 211 end up being the crank sensor!

Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) 211 indicates two successive erratic Profile Ignition Pickup (PIP) pulses occurred, resulting in an engine miss or stall.

Possible causes:

•Arcing secondary ignition components (coil, cap, rotor, wires, plugs, etc.).
•Loose wires/connectors.

replace the crank sensor. I just finished mine. I had the same problem, now I have a nice sho I just picked up for 500 just because of the sensor. I did have the rpm gauge moving when i was cranking. After I look at it maybe its because the sensor was dirty where the contacts where.
