I guess you can take your ass somewhere else and ask for help. Nobody is jumping down your throat.

Everything discussed was in discussion of your build. Whether or not you or the PO had it done, you could learn from it. It sounds like you don't really know what you're doing with some of the questions you've asked. Regardless, the crank isn't weak... It is still a forged crank. You may have just had bad luck or it was 'cracked' well before now because of something the PO may or may not have told you.

After re-reading your posts, I apparently missed the part about the motor having been rebuilt and the crank having been machined.

You never specified whether the motor had 18000 original miles on it, or 18000 since the rebuild. If it was 18000 original, I'd be deeply concerned that the crank needed machining (i.e. something really bad must have happened, perhaps even at the factory). If it was 18000 since the rebuild, I'd question the quality of the entire rebuild, not just the crank.

Regardless, the motor has already been rebuilt once, and that didn't turn out too swell. Considering the work necessary to replace the crank, you really need to re-consider your strategy.

Fall out of love with this motor, throw it in the trash, and find another one. There are a zillion of the things available for short money, and for a lot less time, money, and effort than trying to keep bandaging back together the one you have now. Take any good running used SHO V6 motor, throw around $200-$250 in new gaskets, seals, rod bearings, etc. at it and you'll get a lot longer life and enjoyment out of it for a lot less money and effort than trying to stay on the path you're on now.

I know it sounds tough, but think of it as tough love. I've seen too many people waste countless hours and dollars trying to save SHOs and engines that are beyond saving. You need to know when to cut your losses.

Geeze, that was hard to read... Anyway...

We're just trying to get information from you. My question about machining the crank was in response to your post above it. Regardless of who did it, the answer is still the same as the question was looking for a numerical value ;)

Here is where I am coming from..... there are SHO motors out there producing tons of HP that has the crank turned down as much as yours. Ernie, of salt racing fame, is running a 300 HP SHO that has more turned off the crank than you do and he has never broke a crank. I'm running tons of boost on a crank that is turned as much as yours and so far 550+ cHP hasn't broken it.

My 2-cent opinion is that the machine shop is suspect AND/OR there really isn't a crack in the crank it is a visual anomaly.

If I can stick a quarter in the crack on the crank then that's a really big visual anomaly and I'm going blind but I aggre with you I think the machine shop fuged it up

That's what has happened then .... the machine shop probably didn't even touch the crank and just put the bearings in ...
