Well i tore into her today, well, actually about an hour ago. Got to the point were the tranny is just about to come out, just need a few more things to do.

I had straightened the motor back out, and got to look down into the clutch area allittle better.. i saw that the input shaft was really beaten up... then i looked to the output shaft... i dont know what hit it but it knocked off a piece on the end... and it feels as if there is something in there as well...
the splines felt ok, but there was still that something in there.... ???
looks like im going to need a new motor.... not unless the damage isnt so severe that i can still use this one...
i will try to post pics... that way yall can see what im talking about.

with that being said, i think im going to go hang myself....

some pics wil definitely help us out. my guess is you have a messed up clutch as there are no splines on the end of the crank, just 8 bolts.

be sure to get a re-usable rope, you'll need it again when the damage to the tranny becomes apperant

Well that sucks! I wonder if it would be cheaper just to get another sho? This 89 has turned into the car from H E double hockey sticks with the expense ive dumped into it but i guess im stuck with it. I was going to buy Bretts 92 but my clutch died last night so now i cant. Mabe yall could work out a deal or something? Heck i dunno, im talkin out of my butt right now.

Yea i know what ya mean. I was going to buy Bretts just for the simple fact its been religiously maintained but the 89 had other plans for me and now i dont have enough money to swing it. So i guess me and Bandit will stay companions for a while.

update!

ok.. with alittle closer inspection, it seems that it was the clutch disc splines that were hit/nicked. The splines on this clutch dics a metal, so it kinda threw me off last night.
as for the object in the hole, im pretty sure that it is just the flywheel, as the clutch disc is not centered any more.... hopefully...

axles looked fine, and everything else looked ok.. for what happened...

no im just waiting on a buddy to help me pull the tranny down... yes i need to work out more.... :nut:

(crosses fingers and hopes that the splines on the clutch disc took the hit...) thats alot to wish for, but hey i got to....

another update...

got the tranny out by myself... with out alot of the tranny there it was alittle easier to manage..

anyways, i got the tranny out. the flywheel didnt look all that bad, other than the PP bolts that were broke off in there.. :nut:

so all i need to do now is get the tranny/clutch/flywheel, fix the radiator, and a couple small parts, and i will be on the road again...

Ok, now some of us are getting a better picture, without a real picture. Anyway, if the pressure plate bolts broke that means a big chunk of heavy metal was thrashing around in there. Better inspect the front part of the tranny case real good for cracks and stuff, if it is still there. Kinda sounds like it's the end of the line for that tranny.

Oh absolutely, he determined a long time ago the tranny wasnt re-usable. Hes trying to get the one from my previous 93(greenbean) from Bmcreider. Dont know how thats transpired yet but from what he told me there was absolute carnage in there.

perry... im not trying to be an a$$, but... i stated what had happend a few times...

From what i can tell the PP bolts backed out. this in turn made the PP mad... and it wanted out.. well the tranny was in its way....

pretty much the whole front (engine side/ "bellhousing") is gone.... i take that back.. all of it is... and also it took out the bottom of the trans. you can see the gate and rod inside the tranny...

this tranny Cannot be used again... maybe the internals....

as for today. i fixed a few broken wires.. the power wire that runs up to the Distrobution box on the fire wall. and the smaller wire on the starter..

put a few connectors back together, as they got disconnected when everything was flying around.

took the flywheel off. it can be used again, i just have to get it turned. But the PP bolts are still in there.. so i have to pul them out..

and i found out that the radiator is ok.. it just got some battle wounds.. i havent pressure tested it yet.. but i did put the water hose on one end and covered the other, and it didnt leak... and that had a good amount of pressure to it.. but i am going to take it to a rad. shop so they can test it...

its actually coming together better than i had though it was...

im actually to the point were all i need is the tranny/clutch and a couple small little pieces, and its back on the road....
