I made a tool to hold the harmonic balancer & crank securely while either removing the bolt or when torquing it. Really useful on the ATX. If you have access to simple welding, drilling & cutting tools, it is really cheap insurance against the possibility (even if slight) of breaking a tooth on the flywheel during a "starter bump".

Approximate dimensions:
1. Thickness is about 1/4"
2. Straight handle portion is about 6" x 1"
3. Rectangular portion is about 3" x 4.5" (4 holes in corners are for another use)
4. Hole in center of rectangular portion is 1.5" dia (to allow clearance for socket to loosen or torque crank bolt)
5. Spacing between centerlines of 2 holes either side of large hole 2-11/16"
6. Diameter of small holes - 3/8"
7. OD of bushings - 5/8"........ID - 3/8"
8. Length of bushings welded on rectangular plate - 9/16"
9. Length of bolts - 40mm (threads to fit holes in harmonic balancer....don't remember size, but they are metric same as puller bolts but shorter)
The handle will contact the frame either when removing bolt or when torquing bolt. Be careful that the handle doesn't hit the CV joint boot. If it does, cut a half inch or so off of the end of handle. Snug the bolts down so that the bushings are in contact with the harmonic balancer recessed center area.
