Crank cancer??

How much does a used crank even cost? Not sure if I can spend that kind of money on this car. IF I do decide to replace the crank, I am going to make sure everything else is replaced as well becuase I will plan on keeping this car for a VERY long time after that. Who sells cranks?

Lots of shops repair crank keyways sucessfully with J B Weld; everything from automobiles to tractors. Yes, you can fill in the missing chunk with it. It is important to let it cure completely before you start it up; a few days is best. There are no guarantees of success, of course, but if it doesn't hold up, what have you lost?

As for welding, forget about it. You can't weld on it in place without compromising the crank's heat treating. Removing it and weld repairing it isn't worth it; a whole new engine can be had for a few hundred bucks, and a good crank probably less.

Nobody sells crankshafts new....your best bet is to find a used one.

just watched the video. Looks like JB is my only option. I will just have to load up that missing chunk with it, maybe put some of the weld in the bed and sides of the keyway and then a light coat inside of the gear itself. Let everything cure overnight and just hope for the best. Guess i wont be redlining her anytime in the near future..... SAD FACE HERE
