We got hammered with lake effect snow here south of Buffalo last week. I had over 2' of snow on my windshield and got most of it off with a push broom. I started up the car with the defrosters. When I got back in several minutes later, I had a crack about 3/4 across all along the bottom of the windshield! I figured there must have been a chip that I didn't notice before and with the snow on the windshield and the defrosters blasting, it cracked. I made an appointment to get the windshield replaced that same day and the guy said the windshields are tough as nails, you would have to have had a crack in it already. I checked today and there's absolutely no evidence of any prior damage. Things that make you go hmmmmmm.

Thats odd. The SHO has a really thick windshield with multiple layers maybe that had something to do with it? Like a defective windshield? I have a chip in mine and had it sealed by safelite but really can still see it. Hope it doesnt become a problem this winter because our windshields are sealed up tight and I know safelite will never be able to reinstall a shield the way ford did.

If you don't mind my asking, how much is a windshield? With the new super quiet laminated glass I am afraid it will be really high.

I'm curious myself... I'll find out when I drop off the car on Tuesday. There was nothing moving here the last few days!

Its gotta be up there, for my Range Rover it was 900 dollars and it had a shield similar to the SHO.

I would guess around that, when my mom had to replace the one in her Jag it was a huge hassle. Jaguar couldn't tell us the correct windshield for the car after running the VIN and we ended up having to try 3 to get the right one. I think it was around 1000 for it.

IIRC, LotusDriver had to have his windshield replaced shortly after he bought it. Think the price was in the $400+ range too.

Seems to me the last one I bought was around 250 installed and it had the upper tint. You shouldn't have to pay more than 300 installed.

How do you work the rain sensing wipers? I have to manually turn mine on.

I have about 5 settings for auto rain sensing wipers sensitivity and then 3 for super fast wipers (which are useless).

What year is your SHO? Have you read the section in the owner's manual?

On my 2011 you just turn the wipers to the intermittent position and that enables the rain sensing. The shorter delay dialed in, the more sensitive the rain sensing.

I feel the rain delay wipers suck!!! They don't come on when ya want them too and to get them to come on at a reasonable rate you might as well keep them on the lowest indicated setting. Can't have it all I guess huh? :p
