I replaced my camshaft seals and found that there is no "o-ring" for the cam position sensor. Its just the camshaft seal itself that keeps the oil inside the engine.

I replaced the camshaft seals, front crank seal, valve cover and oil pan gaskets and that solved the oil leak. By the looks of it, all the seals and gaskets needed replacement as I had multiple leaks. Now the engine is clean and dry underneath, just how I like it.

Confused

I have to replace what is being talked about but dealer tells me this. That i need 3 seals for my cams and says he cant get two of them cam sensor seal and front seal.GIves me part numbers E9DZ-6700-A(the one he can get) and
E9DZ-6292-A(one he cannot get),other one he has no part number on.After looking up these part numbers i get 6700 coming up as cam shaft seal right,6292 coming up as cam shaft left inner and there is another one called cam shaft left outter(i am guessing the one he has no part number for). Please hel me clear some things up!they are doing some other work too but any suggestions on what i should get looked at or replaced please let me know!:thankyou:

I can barely understand your post. What are you looking for? 6K292-A is obsolete. If your looking for cam seals, 6700-A is what you want. 3 of them.

The three camshaft oil seals are identical. Just get the Fel-Pro TCS45870 set and search to read about the joys of installing them.

Ok so then there is no cam sensor seal. All i would need is the set of three seals then. Sorry for rambling. But part number 6K292-A you can get from directfordparts.com. It is just difficult when the dam dealer doesnt even know what he is talking about. I also need, dealer parts list says 6 head gaskets,2 intake manifold gaskets and 2 different valve cover gaskets(part numbers are different),plus also tranny screen and oil pan gasket. Any suggestions on where i should get these. Also any suggestions on what i should get looked at or replaced while they are doing that work:thankyou:

The only suggestion I have (and I think I can probably speak for the entire SHOForum when I say this) is to get your SHO away from the dealership as soon as possible. As a rule, Ford dealerships don't know how to work on Yamaha engines, and Ford in general no longer stocks many important parts that you will need. You're gonna end up paying exorbitant fees for the parts that they do have. In terms of labor, you will in all likelihood get a tech that has little or no experience working on a SHO. And that's for $80-$100+ per hour.

Run like **** away from the Ford dealer. They will take your money and won't fix it right. Shit just use thicker oil and be done with it.............

IMHO, you are taking a chance that is not worth it if you use the aftermarket Felpro TCS45870 or National K32138R seal. They are inferior to the factory seal, Ford E9DZ-6700-A. Unlike the others, the Ford seal is made in Japan, markings: NOK, PN BH2737E. It is the proper metric seal for this application, and it iswhat Yamaha installed in your SHO engine when new. It is readily available from your local Ford dealer for about $10. By the time you pay shipping on the inferior aftermarket seals, they are about the same price.

Just to be fair, I had my recently bought '92 worked on at a Ford dealer in Portland, OR. Several dreveability issues, plus no tach, speedo and temp. gauge function, and a hard wired fan (DOH). Also ECT and CCRM issues.

It was spendy, but they got it right, including the right "M" code CCRM. When I drove it away, it ran OEM. Everything I asked to be fixed (I had a long list) was done.

I think the key is to ask the service writers if any of their techs have SHO experience. This dealership had two with Gen. I and II experience, and they double teamed the car depending on what was being repaired.

The only repairs I had done prior to taking it to the dealer were to change the plugs (I wanted to see each cylinder for myself, and truly see how hard it is to remove the intake assembly), the fuel pump, and the cam pos sensor.

FWIW...

They say that there is front ones and rear ones. Also directfordparts.com under camshaft fron cover seal there is a right one, left inner and left outer.:thankyou:

There are three cam seals, that's it. All three are located at the front (passenger side) of the engine. Two of the seals go behind the timing belt sprockets which are mounted on the end of the intake camshafts. The other seal goes behind the CMP sensor which is mounted on the end of the exhaust camshaft (closest to the firewall).

6700-A are the 3 cam seals, all are the same. Front ones rear ones whatever they call them. 2 go behind the timing belt cam gears and one behind the cam sensor.

The 2 intake cams come through the front of the head(attached to the timing gear)...so they need seals.

The rear exhaust cam ALSO comes through the head(attached to the camshaft position sensor) so it needs a seal also.
