Whatever:finger: If you call a source for camshaft seals a source for the camshaft position sensor seal then your lost. Sorry, you wrote it.

The seal can be purchased from any auto parts store that carries either National or Fel-Pro. Just look it up.

Don't make me get out the moderation hammer....

Moderate this.

Two posts. Same guy. Same 24 hour period.

"I'm here because I like the people and the ideals of this forum."

"Can anyone read around here instead of plugging your biz? "

Like I said...

I like plugging my biz ;). Better yet, I like sealing off camshafts. I've had personal experience with RCM, and at first, it was favorable, after that, not so favorable.

I did not mean to come across so harshly. I'll be more aware of how I phrase things from now on. On the other hand, I don't like being told to ***. Thats not right. Yes, I do like the ideals and people on this forum - at least most of them.

I think there is a lot of confusion on my part in what a camshaft position sensor seal actually is. I was told by my local Ford Parts man that it is an o-ring type seal that is NLA. Then I get two people on this thread that point me to camshaft seals. I was thinking o-ring and I get oil seals - then I had an aaaaha moment. They are one in the same...

So much for me thinking I know what I'm talking about. I'll watch my wording in posts from now on.

I should rephrase my initial query:

What is a camshaft position sensor seal, and where can I get one??

Now that I have had a little time to "gain perspective", I apologize for the innappropriate comment.

RCM may still be a good source for whatever SHO part you may need. If he dosent have it, he may lead you to who does.

Think of it like a trip to wall-mart. Asking a clerk where the buttermilk is, he says, "try grocery". When you get to grocery, you ask another clerk, and she says, "try dairy".

If it is a part that is no longer available, Try some of the used parts people on the forum. Many people have parts cars.

Now, on to your question. In all the research and work I've done on my SHOs, I'll have to admit that I have never taken out a cam or replaced a cam seal or touched the cam sensor (stay tuned though). I have never heard mention of a gasket or seal for the cam sensor. I have only heard of cam seals. I have a thorough (albiet, non-tacit) understanding of what cam seals are and how to replace them. The 3.2 I have on a stand in the garage will need all 3 before I install it.

If there is such a thing as a CPS Seal, then it probably either comes with a new sensor, or you can make one out of gasket material or it's a standard sized o-ring.

Have you removed the faulty part? A picture says a thousand words. I know you probably would like a replacement before you take apart your car. A lot of times, I have found that to not be possible.

By the way, do you know where the cottage cheese is?
It's an adventure for some of us, too. Were not ALL tour guides, but willing to help just the same.

The "cam shaft" seal is indeed a radial oil seal like Seanmc posted a picture of there is a total of 3 of them on the engine. As for CPS crank position sensor there is no gasket for the sensor, unless your thinking of the front main oil seal, that is also a radial oil seal. Its a different size than the cam shaft ones of course.

The camshaft seal set can be found by the part numbers and at the locations shown below. The OEM seals were Fel-Pro, but I have found National brand seals boxed as Fel-Pro due to manufacturer buyouts.

Camshaft Seal Set (3 seals)
Fel-Pro TCS45870, O'Reilly, $17.99
Fel-Pro TCS45870, RockAuto.com, $14.63

Individual Camshaft Seals (3 required)
National 1213N (3 each), O'Reilly, $4.99
BCA 1213N (3 each), RockAuto.com, $3.97

Nevermind. I don't know where this seal even goes. The only one behind that Camshaft Position Sensor is the Cam seal. You get 3 of them. Two behind the Timing Belt sprockets and the other is behind the Cam Position Sensor.

Dang... they got me for 10.00 a peice... But I will say, at first he laughed, and told me they werent avaliable, so I pushed him a peice of paper with a part number. Then he said hmmph, and said it was in Chicago, and would probally be 3 or 4 days until they got them, because I was ordering them at 4:50 pm. Well, at 8:20 am the next day he called, and they were there. I don't know what happend, but I'm not complaining at all.
