So, there's been a few posts from people over time on these exhaust systems. I have not yet bought a system, but the lower price of the Magna Flow is appealing. I would love to solicit feedback from everyone who has installed aftermarket exhaust and see how the systems are doing sound wise, performance wise, and 'fit and finish' wise. I am sure some of you guys have put quite a few miles on these systems, so a check in would really help me. Thanks.

I've had the Corsa installed since March. Fit and finish are top notch. Sound wise it's rather pleaesant at crusing and light throttle inputs,. Under downshifts and wide open throttle, it almost wicked. I wouldn't replace the system installed for anything. As far as performance goes, it seemed to breather easier and rev quicker. With the CAI and Livernous stage 2, the car is almost evil.

If you are concerned with the price, I would suggest to go see a muffler specialist like I did... I had a bit of drone in the cabin, but since I put back the spare in the trunk with the bottom cover, it is now much better. It sounds mean and it cost me only 800$. It deleted third cat and resonator straight with 2.5 inches tubing Dynomax mufflers (main reason why it sounds great) and 4.5'' tips all stainless steel 306.
For me, the Corsa seemed a bit shy and too expensive for my budget... Same for Borla and Magnaflow seemed to be one notch under the other 2, but even at a better price, here in Canada with custom charges and shipping and install, it was still about 1200$. I think that my current setup is better quality than the one of Magnaflow.
You can here how it sounds in youtube under steve142857.
Cheers! and good luck in your process! Let us know what you end up doing,
Steve

I worry a bit about the removal of the cat and resonator. I am in GA, and at some point I will have to have this car pass emissions. Don't you think that the missing components will have an impact on emissions testing?

Then start tubing after third cat, like Corsa, Borla and Magnaflow are doing... It adds a bit of resistance, but still better than OEM. Or you could do a system like Ecobrick Bob on his Flex which I believe has that portion easy to remove and put back... Maybe he can chirp in... I think it is him...
BTW I forgot to mention that I had the 3rd cat and resonator replaced by an X pipe, so if I would have had them started the custom exhaust after 3rd and resonator with no X pipe, they would have charged me about 650$... which is at least half the price. i would definitely consider that option if you have a trustable and reputed garage that specialize in exhaust in your area.
Cheers!

Or... MOVE TO FLORIDA!!!!!!

I have a similar system to Steve.... Love it.... Sounds about like my friend's Gran Sport Vette with the Manual (dry sump engine) and the special exhaust. Yea... his Vette sounds more like my EB V-6 than my G8 with the cam and headers.

My system includes 2 Magnaflows at rear (axleback) and the NESHO mid-pipe that eliminates the 3rd cat and the mid-muffler, and adds an "X - PIPE". I set up this mid-pipe with flanges, so I can re-insert the stock mid-pipe system if need be. Cost about $100. extra, but as you say.... will meet emissions testing, if I am ever where it is required.

I've got a pair of Magnaflow mufflers sitting around that I bought for another car but never used. I'm sure they'll find their way onto the SHO within the next year. I'll go to my local exhaust shop, and just have them run some piping from the midsection back, and have them hang the mufflers with new tips. The only problem is they're 3" I/O. I guess I'll just have 2.5" piping run back, then opened up to 3" right before the muffler.

I've always used Magnaflow on my cars and never had anything but a great experience. They're quality is top notch, and the price is affordable.

Here is my original post on Flex Net. Shows muffler #. I chose the satin SS as I painted them flat black, like the stock mufflers. Polished are slightly more expensive. I also used the stock tips. However, Magnaflow sells SS polished tips that are similar to ours, that could be used if you have damaged tips, or don't want to use the stock tips. As you can note, the magnaflows with the remaining stock system was pretty quiet, and only slightly gained noise over the next 10K or so. And... mufflers tend to be more noticeable in a open vehicle like the Flex, vs. a car with a trunk like the SHO.

Banditt Exhaust ( on web) or Planet Magnaflow (web) will sell for much less than retail. I bought them thru the installer & paid a bit more, but wanted it done right. He later installed my NESHO mid-pipe and added flanges to it and stock removed section so I could re-install if desired. Very reasonable prices considering it was Naples, FL......

Magnaflow Mufflers - part# 11225 - were installed today. They are 4"x9"x14" with 2.25 inlets and outlet - satin SS finish. The stock tips fit as if original.

They sound perfect!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They are just noticeable when the radio is turned off. When you floor it, you can actually hear the engine and tranny shift!

I would describe the exhaust note as similar to a "stock" Cadillac CTS with the Direct Injection V-6. It is much quieter than my Magnaflows on my G8's.

I attribute the mild sound to the V-6 and the turbos. I did not replace the center muffler/resonator. I'm sure if this were replaced with an x-pipe the Flex would have been much louder.

Total cost: $303.00 including 6% tax. Labor was $100. SS Mufflers and SS rod to hang them was $183. If you are a do it yourselfer (can weld Stainless), you can buy the mufflers from Planet Magnaflow for under $70. ea shipped.

While I doubt any mileage or performance gains will be noticeable, if I experience them, I'll let you know. :drunk: :drunk: :drunk:
