Even though I would rather have an MTX, I need to soon find a replacement ATX transmission. I have the '95 tranny, you guys know which tranny code I need? AX4N, AXOD, etc... Let me know so I can search for something.

The SHO auto tranny is an ADOD-E/AX4S that is specific to the SHO. A standard Taurus AX4S would probably mate up and even work for a while, but it wouldn't last long.

Expect to pay $1200-$1500 for a high-quality rebuild with the trans-go shift correction kit, plus another $400-$500 labor to install it. Doug Lewis at FPS in GA comes highly recommended -- his trannys are regularly referred to as bullet-proof. Whatever you do, avoid AAMCO and similar chains!
