Does anyone's SHO overheat when the temperature is hot outside? Me being in Texas, my '93 ATX overheats some and a mechanic told me that SHOs have a "safety" system to shut off the engine if the temp gets too high. Is all this true??

If you are having any problems with your car your should try and post in the proper section of the forum. The taurus does not have a system on board to shut it off if the temp gets too high. But just how high on the gauge is it going? Is it in the red? Or up to the bottom of the "O"? Our cars seem to have a large sweep on the needle for the 20 degrees that the temp my vary. So as long as its in the normal range it should be ok. Also the stock gauge is not a really accurate piece. You may also want to try and change the gauge sender.

Mine varies also, anywhere from a little below the L, which is the usual, to the top of the A, so don't worry about it too much it it's in the normal range, like Ishodu said.

ok, but when Im driving in 5:00 traffic, my car does a lot of stop and go driving, and I do some sitting. I have to keep the revs up around 1500 just to keep the temp needle down or else it goes above the N and my car dies. But thanks for the advice on getting a new guage.

Does your cooling fan come on? Sounds to me like you might be in need of a new t-stat, but I have very little info to base that on.
