Just thought I'd share my experience before this happened to someone else. in an effort to keep things cool on my 1994 ATX Taurus-car I lowered the fan controller set points to a level where both fans ran all the time once it was warmed up. my dataloged ECTs where right at 200F most of the time so I thought I was OK.
and I was, till I melted the alternator and battery.
including the cost of the new/rebuilt parts and the gel-cell I smoked, I could have gone on a nice weekend trip, including gas and a nice hotel. DOUH
