I have a 93 3.2 SHO. I put in a new thermostat. car warms up just about to the N on guage, then the fans kick on. cools engine down to about the O, then the fans go off. then heats back up to the N. I know the fans work but I think they are coming on way to late. do I have a bad relay? also, fans do not come on with max a/c on or on high speed defrost but the a/c needs a recharge so the compressor clutch does not engage. should the fans come on with panel on max a/c even though compressor not coming on cause of no freon? which relay do you think I need and where is it located? my 92 SHO temp guage never goes past the middle, even on those 95 degree days with the a/c on.

If your compressor is not running due to lack of refrigerant, then the fans won't come on. I don't think anything is wrong with any relays. The temp gauge is notoriously inaccurate. I wouldn't be too concerned.

I think the guage works properly. it slowly rises as car warms up. would a bad ECT sensor have the fans come on when temp is too hot?
