Jason,Let me check I believe I can pick one up at the j/y I go to,if I can get it you can have it for the price of shipping and cost from salvage yard.I will check in the morning and e-mail you tomorrow with my findings. Do you know if it matters between an MTX or ATX on the overflow bottle I believe this one at the j/y had an ATX in at one time. thumbs_u

if its a small hole you can patch it (epoxy or plastic welding), if you do need to replace it, its HELLA easy, just look at it and you will see how it comes out.

If you want a laugh, check with your loco Ford dealership. It's about $50 for the bottle and sensor, and about $85 for the sensor only......
After thinking about it for a while, I decided to get the bottle and the sensor.

The sensor in my 89 always reads low coolant. Has anybody ever fixed one of those sensors? I don't think I could ever bring myself to buy a new one.

Pull out the old sensor and clean the two metal tabs at the bottom. They must be able to pass a current through the coolant to see if there is any liquid there.

I think that's the new style sensor. I have the old style. The top of the float has a thin strip of metal that bobs up into the sensor body. I cleaned the strip but that didn't fix it.

Mine's a 93 ATX and has the two electrodes at the bottom. I tried cleaning them (filed them till they were shiny), didn't work.

Tried to order a bottle w/sensor at my local dealer. No luck bottle was $80, sensor was separate for list price of $65. I asked if that was their best price, ended up at $55 for sensor only. Sensor will be in next week, I'll let you know if this fixes my low coolant light.

I was really trying to get all my dash warning lights lit-up at the same time. :) I currently have the ABS, Low Coolant, OD Off, and the occassional Check Engine.

I usually get some interesting comments from passengers when they see all those idiot lights lit. :D This'll ruin my image if I start making those lights go out.

Installed new sensor last night. Good news: "Low Coolant" light is out, and simple fix. Just unplug the connection, there's a clip on the wires part of the connection that needs to be pulled up a bit to get over a *** on the sensor part of the connection. Then twist and pull the old sensor out. Insert the new sensor into deep part of bottle, and reconnect.
Bad news: $55 out of pocket to fix.

I think maybe I'll take a cutoff wheel and dremel my sensor in half so I can see what's going on and hopefully fix. Seems worth the time and $.15 of epoxy to glue it back together. Until then I just keep the connector unplugged and check the coolant. I like looking at the engine bay a lot more since cleaning it (to the wife at the Art supply parking lot: "Honey, come look at the engine again, isn't it pretty?" AWA rolls her eyes) so I check the coolant more often.
