Several weeks ago I flushed the cooling system on my 1995 MTX. After doing this I started to loose coolant slowwwwly. I chased the leak down to where the drain valve screws into the radiator. For my own sense of security I removed the radiator to verify that the tanks weren't cracked and the core was okay. They checked out fine. It definately was coming from the drain valve. Thinking the rubber o-ring was bad I replaced the valve. I even put blue RTV on the treads of the new valve. The leak slowed even more, but the problem still exists. I don't want to purchase a new radiator if I can help it. Is this a common problem with SHO radiators? Thanks for any help.

Are you sure it is the drain valve? Most SHO radiator leaks are at the plastic tank aluminum core union and do it when cold and on the drivers side. It may be dripping down onto the valve giving the illusion the valve is leaking.

When I pulled the radiator out I was sure to look very carefully where the tanks attach to the core as that is where a radiator of this type typically fails. There was no residue or any evidence of a leak anywhere along the tank to core union. Thanks for the suggestion.
