go to the store and get a prestone "flush" kit.
What you will do is install the flush kit that will let you hook your garden hose to the coolant system. you will turn on the water and it will flush out all of the old coolant for you. once the coolant is all out and all you see is clear water you can drain the radiator and put in straight coolant. this should bring you close to 40/60 mix. you will have to drain a little bit more and add more coolant. You can check this by using a coolant tester. Good Luck

The problem with this method is that you have unfiltered, mineral laden tap water in your cooling system. Draining through the radiator petcock leaves about a gallon of coolant inthe system. You should use distilled water and the silicate-free Prestone Long Life (orange) coolant for long and care-free cooling system life.

I just had to add coolant today, and a lot of it. I used the green Prestone stuff (a friend had it, so I don't know what type exactly), and water. A 50/50 mix, as stated to use in my manual.

I have heard about using the dist.water before. i know our water here where i live is very hard and i would hate for it to get into my motor. If i use the bottled stuff, can i just drain the old cooland, add distilled, drain, add, etc. will this work? Thanks guys.
Also, any ideas on a tranny additive? i have 80k on my ATX. I was thinking about the slick 50 additive. any thoughts.?

What I do is flush out the old stuff with city water. Then drain that out and blow compressed air in the system. Then button everythig up but the TB coolant hose in the front. As you add the new 50/50 distilled water and AF mix the water left in the enfgine will be forced out the TB coolant hose. Then after you have green or orange coming out the same shade as the new going in for a while you're all done.

I have used Toyota's "red coolant" which is good for 50K + miles. I have been using it for the past 30K miles now with no problems.
